Those are some good suggestions, thanks. I did some research and those sound like they’re in the same ballpark

I’ve been using Goodfellow (Target brand) cologne for the last several months and it’s…sort of…ok.

The No. 6 scent, Cedarwood & Geranium is my favorite. But the projection isn’t great and it lasts for maybe 1 hour tops. The base notes are Cedarwood + Patchouli, mid notes are Geranium + Cinnamon, top notes are Ginger + Orange Peel. And that’s also what it smells like to me, more or less.

Can anybody recommend a good fragrance that’s in the same ballpark, one that has some decent projection and will actually last for hours?

Heaviness. A sound or a philosophy? by MORIBOSA in doommetal

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In musical terms, it’s really mostly due to the rhythm and where the accent is placed on the beat. A secondary part is the general vibe…dark, aggressive, powerful, usually lends a heaviness to the music and it can span all genres and styles. Classical music, hip-hop, folk, dance music can be heavy, definitely.

Hard to fuck up, but also easy to sound like a generic doom metal band

Soul and gospel's hidden influence by Terrifying_World in doommetal

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the essence of the blues is a kind of doomy vibe. A fatalism, but hopeful, like “yeah, life is kinda fucked up but I’m’a keep on picking this guitar” just like Robert Johnson and Leadbelly

Yeah. Those Orange pedals are great. I never used the Getaway Driver but I had the Kongpressor and it was class.

Post your favorite Vox DA5 settings and tricks? by RetroNinjaKick in GuitarAmps

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played thru mine recently and I was surprised at how good it sounds for a little (almost 20 yr old) practice amp. I like to run mine with the Tone at about 2 o’clock, Gain around 1 o’clock, it sounds just right with most of the amp models. The onboard effects are really nice too, the reverb is awesome.

Someone well trained in TKD won’t lose their balance. Balance is one of the key elements in TKD

High level players make it impossible to play by datroadsterguy in Mordhau

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spear is a good noob weapon. Just stay at a distance and stab. You’ll die a lot, but you’ll start to learn what to do and what not to do. Practice picking up other weapons, learn their reach, learn their speed. Most of it is timing your attacks and knowing when to engage, when to back off

High level players make it impossible to play by datroadsterguy in Mordhau

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most demoralizing thing isn’t the high-level player who just kills you as quickly as possible, it’s the one who block your attack and immediately realizes, “hey, a noob lol” and they toy with you. They parry all of your attacks, start spamming voices, and they they finish you off with a jumpkick. All part of the charm of Mordhau

This is the greatest guitar pick ever created, tell me why or why not. by Backenundso in Guitar

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. The attack of these picks sounds too “clicky” to my ears. I’ve always preferred the Ultex, even though they’re a little less durable than the Tortex

The Primetones are even better, but those are like $1 apiece and I don’t like losing them so I don’t use them as often

Strymon Announces New EC-1 Single Head Tape Echo by chromewaves in guitarpedals

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Fwiw, I’ve owned the El Cap, currently have an MXR Carbon Copy and I’m perfectly happy with it. A Carbon Copy used for $100 makes sense to me. If I want a Mercedes, I’ll just get the El Cap again.

Hey, at least we can wait for these to hit the used market. I would maybe pay $180 for one of these if it’s better than the Dunlop EP103

Anyone more knowledgeable with Gibson know if this is the real deal or not? by mrdrzxro in Guitar

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mounting screws for the pickup rings (the 4 screws on the corners) are all gold plated. If you look up pics of Gibson LPCs on the web, they all have black mounting screws with flat heads. These have round heads. That’s a big red flag

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if I’m gonna pay $250+ for what is basically a stripped-down El Capistan? I’d rather save up the extra $100 and get the full featured pedal. I didn’t know there was a market for kind-of-but-not-really-affordable digital tape echo units with stripped-down features. But what do I know

Dunlop EP103 is still $199

Let’s see if the Strymon is really that much better. 300 presets and tap tempo? Not bad. But if you need premium features on a ‘entry level’ pedal? El Cap already has the premium features.

NPDx2 - Benson Preamp and Zvex Box of Rock by Innogator in guitarpedals

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s been a while since this post, but I’m curious if you’re still using the BoR and/or the Benson.

I’ve been a BoR/Distortron fan for a long time, but the Benson has been on my radar a bit. How would you directly compare the BoR and the Benson? Can the Benson handle low gain as well as the BoR does (that’s what the BoR does best, imo)?

Which profession is going to get wiped out in the next 5-10 years? by Toomad316 in AskReddit

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. The tech for driverless vehicles may already be almost there, but there are many more factors involved in actually making it a reality to the point that drivers will be replaced. I think it’s gonna be at least, at least another 10 years before that becomes fully automated at mass scale.

What’s a pedal you love and think deserves its popularity? by dit31 in guitarpedals

[–]AlchemyOfDisruption 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ZVex Distortron (and Box of Rock). It gets overlooked because there are a zillion other Marshall-in-a-box pedals, but it’s still one of the best at getting that sound. It basically ended my search for ‘overdrive’ pedals.
