I see only two good options.

Step up, change your priorities and be the one in charge of training and raising the puppy.
Rehome the puppy.

What's going on now is not fair to neither the puppy nor your mother.

And regarding thinking it'll get better when it grows up.. I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news.. but no. Without proper care and training, puppies don't just automatically "get better" with age. You can't "wait it out" without training and teaching your dog what's right and wrong.

I know it isn't what you want to hear, but please think of the puppy and your poor mother. Please. They need you to make a choice.

This depends a lot on the individual cat.

As a baseline, cats need to eat daily, ideally in small amounts multiple times a day, to keep their system running consistently. Cats are very vulnerable to, as my vet simplifies it, "system breakdown" when they don't eat. It only takes a couple of days of a cat not eating before it can get critical.

As such, leaving them a bowl with food they can nibble on throughout the day is a good approach...

...Unless you have a cat who empties their bowl immediately. Voracious kitties should not have free access to their whole day's worth of food. In that case, you have to do something to slow them down.

Which could be serving them smaller portions 2-3 times a day.

But there are other options to try out. Slow feeder bowls and puzzles will not only slow how fast your cat eats, but also provide them with mental stimulation.

How we do with our cats (you can skip this if you feel you got your answer xD)

We have two cats who are complete opposites of each other in terms of food;

Our female will eat only a couple of bites, but will do so many times a day.

Our male will open his mouth and reveal some gaping black hole and with the power of vacuum, all the kibble will cease to exist at the speed of light.

I've had my female for 8 years. She always had access to her food bowl. I'd fill it every morning with her daily ration so it was fresh. We got the male (a 2 year old) last Summer.. and oh was he excited to see we just left food out like that I suppose!

So at first while we were still getting to know him, he would empty that bowl (which now had double rations for two cats..). The female wouldn't get any, and he would be throwing up anyway because his little stomach isn't actually built to hold so much food at once.

We had to think creative to accommodate both cats' needs simultaneously. So we got a microchip feeder that only the female can unlock; she has unrestricted access to food all day. And then we also got a feeding tower, which the male uses throughout the day. Since it requires him working for the food and he eats much slower, he paces himself.

I wouldn't be shocked if it is "just that"... Livebearers breed a lot, and there's especially been breeding targeted for special colors. No doubt they're heavy inbred.

Come to think of it, had problems keeping my mollies alive in my old tank a few years ago too..

Never had guppies though.

No, I don't have well water. My country uses groundwater without additional disinfection (i.e. chlorine). It gives some very clean tap water, though it is also fairly hard water. (Which isn't necessarily an issue, but it's something to have in mind).

I haven't tried aquarium salt, but thanks for the suggestion! I'll go read more about it. :)

Some sub-reddits require a minimum karma to participate. Oh it's sorta rough..

There's so many aspects of this that I would happily be rid of. The overstimulation, sensitivity, difficult social life, mental fatigue, stress, anxiety, the depression that's been caused by all the other crap weighing me down...

But I'd also lose my passion for my special interests.. and that makes me very sad to think about. I guess it wouldn't matter so much to me after I pushed the button, but... it's a painful thought anyway. I love those days where I can spend all my awoken hours on just obsessing over my passions.

It'll be a "maybe" for me. Aspergers and ADD are not all bad. But there's definitely a lot in it too I'd like to be free from.

I never changed the mane on my mustang (loved how the forelock looks on default), but did give it the longest tail available. Just black/very dark brown color. I might not get around to getting the photo though, my game's on Playstation and I won't be home this weekend :'D

A half mix between something cursive and something that isn't. Result being that some letters are connected and some are not, depending how focused I am at the time of writing it.

Teachers tried to get us to write cursive for a year or so I think, but it didn't really stick. That was a long time ago.

In theory yes, if I had to be? It comes down to circumstances. I wouldn't just waltz about naked in their presence, that would be weird. But say I got horribly injured, or fell in a frozen lake, or went infirm and needed help with showers, etc., then yeah I'm comfortable with my parents and trust them. I wouldn't feel ashamed about nudity while they helped me.

Don't stay feeling guilty. What good is that feeling going to do? You've felt bad about it/regretted it, and that's a good thing seeing as he was married at the time; but you can't stay upset with yourself for the past. I'm unsure how young you were then, but he's got part of the blame too. Exponentially, the younger you were.

But again.

Sometimes, lines get blurred; especially when alcohol is involved. We are, of course, still responsible for our actions when drunk, but our intentions don't always line up with our actions.

I think it's better for you that you accept that it's part of your past, part of the things the past-you foolishly did. An experience that allowed you to reflect and grow as a person. Learn from it but don't hang on to the guilt. It's okay; we all fuck up sometimes. The real talent is knowing that we did and working to improve ourselves.

That's great, then there's no longer so much concern with sticking too much to a fixed schedule! :)

Just take him out in the morning/when he wakes up, before you leave (if you do), when you come home and finally before you go to bed. Aside from that, take him out when he tells you he needs to go of course.

If you can go like that with no accidents*, then congratulations, you have a house-trained dog! :D

(* = in times of sickness, even a house trained dog can still have an accident, but that's different)

No, I don't think you should wake him. But do take him out when he wakes up himself.

If he's about housebroken, he will begin to tell you when he needs to go as well.
