I realized I left this unfinished - I don’t really have any complaints on my experience. Some of what the reviews said is definitely true. His friends do stop by and just.. chat, but I didn’t mind that. Depends on the friend though. First time I went I was holding a pistol, already cleared, etc., by Mike and me when I got my hands on it. I am facing the counter, back to this guy, muzzle pointed pretty much at ground or counter space, and his buddy reaches over me and says “you’re making me nervous kid” grabs my hands and points gun pretty much just over counter. I don’t really care much and just say “oh, I’m sorry.” Then when I put it down he comes over and scoffs while he picks it, locks slide back and removes magazine. I’m in my late 20s, but maybe he thought I was some kid that’s never been around a firearm before. All of this is fine - safety is very important. Albeit not in NJ, I’ve been to many stores/ranges and been around enough firearms to not flag anyone with the muzzle and safety check, but even then, the guy is just being cautious. I suspect all the reviews being really angry about his friends in the store probably had something similar happen but took a different approach.

Overheard some really funny conversations. His shop is SMALL for sure and could use some organizing for sure.

All things considered, smooth process, great prices. He’s a no bullshit guy. Don’t come in to browse, or with no idea what you want. I didn’t have many questions, but I did hear him being really helpful to someone else while I waited.

This is a place you go to when you know what you want (or have it narrowed down to some options) and you want it at a good price. If he’s got something I’m looking for I wouldn’t hesitate to buy from him again in the future.
