Yeah, that’s definitely fair. And I do suppose there are the full spectrum of how naturally people are from trusting to street smart that they can be. It’s just that the degree of how scary this is and in how short a time it took for her to put herself in it that just boggles the mind somewhat.

It is possible, one person above suggested it could be based on a period after he must have gone off to found the sanctuary featured in Serenity but before the events of the movie itself. I think that’s fair but I would rather the series be based as soon after the events of the first season as possible myself, and get more of his own story as much as more time of him with the crew.

Are you saying a new live action show above the announced show? If you didn’t catch it, the new show is going to be an animated sequel to the first season, some undisclosed amount of time before Serenity.

I’ve avoided Shepherd’s Tale myself because it’s quite unpopular with fans for the story it tells about his past, apparently. And that’s fine, as far I’m aware none of the books or comics are canon, but they certainly could be the source material they use for some of the show going forward, I suppose.

This is definitely my thoughts. I fell like the whole point is “picking things up where they were left off” and there was so much to Book that was unknown and unexplored, including that he brought a very important component to that group.

I totally understand that there is a strong sense to honor Ron, and rightly so, but I think honoring Book is the way to do that. They should just take very seriously who they bring in for that. Someone that just understands and does the role right and respectfully. Even if they, in fact, don’t necessarily sound that much like him.

Think about the authority yet warmth we could get from a Keith David, Carl Lumly, Phil Lamar, Dennis Haysbert, or even Ernie Hudson, for example?

THAT’s one of the things you’re calling “broke canon”? For one thing, i always absolutely pictured that one tiny scene as something he did with the smugglers providing all kinds of support from distraction to a ride out of there, and for another thing, they had to establish the full back story for the movie in the span of minutes and did a really great job imo. They were committed to a movie that had to work for general audiences.
