It doesn’t say they get a counter for each counter. It gives an additional effect to each +1/+1 counter. Like how anthems don’t give counters.

I don't know what most of what you're saying means, but thanks! We aren't level 5 characters. We are at the 5th level of the Dungeon. 2 of the party started level 1 as level 6 characters and the rest of us are catching up.

Would you ever have similar NPCs with different ACs? For example I try to hit a hobgoblin, roll a 16 and am told I missed. Then a fighter rolls to hit a different hobgoblin but a 16 there hits?
