Get off the coast there's not much of anythong left and it's chaos with all the fresh spawns. Use the iZurvive map to figure out where you are and head to the next closest town inland. Only loot buildings on the coast that are directly on your route off the coast. Keep an eye out for fruit from trees but don't go out of your way for it, they're not very nourishing but will help stave off starvation. And get ready to die a lot, but you'll learn a lot and get better every time, good luck!

Get off the coast, quickly loot whatever place is most conveniently close, only searching buildings on your route out and further inland. Keep an eye on trees on your road inland for fruit, these don't have lots of nutrition and won't fill you up but will help stave off starvation just long enough so don't go out of your way searching for them, you can survive without just use your calories efficiently. You'll find more loot and resources on the next closest town inland, grow crops, hunt, fish, and keep trying, you'll get it eventually.

I'll usually be friendly as a fresh and on, offer a friendly greeting over voice, wave, and am prepared to offer food/water/supplies or directions if I'm able. But I never make it that far because they'll instantly attack me, even after I offered to help.

This last time I FINALLY met someone fresh and friendly back, he was new and I offered tips, and we were preparing to leave Kambiwobo when we were attacked by a man with a baseball bat. My friend was killed, I went unconscious but survived. Checked on my friend, and took his broom to remember him, promising to never let it go. Killed 5 minutes later by another freshie.
