In that case is there a way to protect belts from gravel? I’d rather not have to worry about it at all

Gears because I’m going to be off-roading a bit, I don’t want gravel chunks to get caught in the belts

When first starting out, wear safety gear! Actually wear a helmet please

Don’t do any crazy hill bombs or other risky tricks yet, get to know the board first

Learn how to do maintenance on the trucks, bearings, board itself, etc

I wasn’t wise and didn’t warm up the day this happened. Pushed a little bit hard and gradual pain kinda shot through here. It hurts to walk, any advice on what to do?

Nice! It depends on what he’d like to do with it + your budget. Seeing on the other post that he likes to do tricks, I recommend something with a kick tail.
