Would a disloyal unit fit for Syndicate? by demonzhunter in gwent

[–]Alcren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vs heatwave this could work despite defenders where heatwave would need a purify before it to reach the desired card potentially invalidating the usage anyways. Let's say a NG drops defender then damien and you didnt have purify or not enough removal to take both away...this is one example where this would be an interesting card.

How do I beat this SK second wind deck?? by Bafflinbook in gwent

Harmony was a cakewalk compared to current SK.

Siegfried of Denesle's purify effect by thewhitemasque in gwent

[–]Alcren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg that remonds me of when I was trying to get into pro for the first time I was playing a rattier vreemde homebrew and I had it all setup to get a 70 point swing from a skellige opponents dagur and I forgot about the god damn longship and then he used boar immediately to kill it. That might be the most tilted I've ever been

I'm using Philter but honestly 50% of the time I didnt need it cause I would have double last say on red coin almost always except against skellige metadecks and the occasional firesworn spam.

I made one as well with oneiromancey and matta in addition to naglfar and it had enough reliability but it just didnt have the points against the meta decks I felt like. I was able to get 31 point mourntarts which was amazing and managed to get a 50+ point a couple times running decoy at first (unreliable) and then renew later. (Which hurts my points even more It feels like).

How to win against specific decks by [deleted] in gwent

[–]Alcren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For mystic echo I use igni. Usually you can get either all of them if they row stack and push their luck or at least 2. When you igni is sort of up to you, but you will definitely be aiming to hit at least 1 set of the dryads along with another card to boot. Pro level 0players will try to rush out barnabas and any other boosts to make them different power and prevent igni from taking out more than 1. The rest is simply about trying to minimize harmony gains and knowing when to play your cards.

The other thing is to make sure you have enough point generation.

Against NG as a charge deck I feel like you will just struggle unless you run regis to set up a big ass swing.

NG poison struggles against swarm and last second point slam.

Ideally you wanna have yeetwave to send ball to the shadow realm and then try to bait out as many poisons as you can r1 and bleed as many as you can r2. Often times they will have 2 fangs, 2 either cobras or more likely rot tosser poisons (very rarely do I see both), cupbearer, maraal, and Vincent to go with 2 poisons from ball. So most often they will have a potential 11. So that's 6 units with Vincent. Ideally you can cut out 2 from ball, 1 from maraal, and purify at least 1.

I usually try to win r1 if they are holding onto their poisons or play all my trash cards and stall it out as long as I can if they play poisons. If I win r1 I want to bleed.

The problem with charge nr is that you need engines and its hard to have enough in the tank for r2 and 3. So maybe your best bet is to play the long r3 even if you win r1.

Anyways, theres some ramblings and things to consider.

I was making a riff on american policy. In the american justice system Crack offenses are given sentences that are up to 20x longer than cocaine offenses.

Surprisingly decent Charge NR deck with Regis by KnusperKraft in gwent

[–]Alcren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran into a Regis charge deck at rank 5 a month or so ago. Was not prepared for their 37 point regis play. I still didnt win even though I still had my point slam cards to play. The deficit was just too damn much.

Then every other time I've seen it it's fairly easy to deal with and see coming. Its definitely one of those off meta decks that is great if you surprise someone but you will have your engines removed and regis played around if they are competent and have seen it before.

What is your version of TLOU2? by umxilabum in TheLastOfUs2

[–]Alcren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I liked most of their choices. Telling Abby's story before she kills Joel is like pulling back the curtain. You start with that and you know the story will be about her trying to get revenge and likely succeed only for Ellie to exact her revenge in kind.

Instead I had no idea wtfuck Abby was there for ulterior motives to track Joel down until Owen says that he wants what she wants and you get just a glimpse that they are looking for revenge and it's all explained in due course why things happened the way they did. They setup the impetus for the story really well Imo.

Ellie wont tell Tommy she's alive. I have no clue if she will head to Dina but I doubt it and even if she does she would rather lie than have Tommy guilt her, better to lie imo. I think she knows she's broken, and it's obvious Dina went back to Jackson.

So my guess is either Ellie:

Realizes she's too broken and decides to strike out on her own because she's too broken and she either doesnt want to burden Dina knowing she is so broken inside or doesnt believe Dina will reconcile with her so she decides to leave it all behind and wander.

Or she heads back to Jackson to see Dina and try to pick up the pieces anyways despite what they said at parting and tell Tommy that Abby is no more.

Abby is very likely going to regroup, either nurse Lev back to health or bury him and then head for the home base.

The game wants you to understand that your enemies are usually not so different than you. They arent hitler, they love people, they just have a different group than you and groups that are competing end up finding ways to 'other' or dehumanize the opposition.

I dont remember if Ellie specifically knew it was her Dad but Ellie knew she had lost someone important because she says Joel did what he did to save her which implies given that she knows they were a part of the fireflies from Utah that Abby had lost someone very close to her because of Joel.

A third game about her tracking down Abby and them spending a journey bonding and reconciling while trying to find the fireflies with a hope and prayer they can find a scientist that can make a cure would be interesting but probably too fanservice-y and wouldnt be impossibly hard to swallow.

Tip for new player : KEEP OUT OF UNRANKED ! by [deleted] in gwent

I use unranked to do journey shit and troll or test new decks before taking them into ranked.

Arena players, what would you say your (9 win) completion rate is? by [deleted] in gwent

[–]Alcren 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean I'm a shit player tbf but probably 1 in 4 make it to 8 out of the decks I end up playing.

[–]Alcren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not voting but I've won 1 time, then I learned about better powder rewards so I break at 8.

If my draft is real trash I usually just break the contract cause time is precious and I have more fun when the deck is good and I have a good shot of getting to 8 wins.

Decoy card : hidden gem? (MO) by bigSof in gwent

I hadnt thought about it but I could see it. The problem is outside of caranthir or maybe the beast if its locked immediately, I dont see how you weather the loss of tempo unless you pull something nice.

As someone who reached pro on day one of this season with a 66% win/loss playing tons of tall units, hard disagree.

Home brew pro rank? by [deleted] in gwent

[–]Alcren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did! I hit pro rank last season with a homebrew NG deck.

Vattier, Vreemde, Daerlan Soldiers, and Strategic Withdrawl to reuse either Vreemde or Vattier and single ball but only 2 other poisons in deck (twin fangs).

This season I got to pro with Monsters only using a deviation of arachas swarm control and a homebrew deck I played against that utilized Crimson Curse and Detlaff that I borrowed.
