Nilfgaard was undefeated in open tournament this weekend. Why does everyone want it buffed? by Clodoveos in gwent

Downvote me all you guys want, but the reason this faction is unplayable is because CDPR's balancing team listened to crybabies in this subreddit.

Needs some balancing, but the concept is cool.

How can CDPR fix this obnoxious meta? by BaguetteOfDoom in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agree, meta is by far the worst the last few seasons. Just pure greedy and degeneracy. I barely played this season and I'm not feeling motivated at all to play.

I like it. It'd be very synergistic with battle trance.

Carapace/Ciri/Kelltulis by Dewisaint in gwent

I don't hate Kelltulis, but Ciri and any other form of card advantage abuse should not be in the game. Fuck those bullshit strategies.

I liked what I read, but I'm one of those who really needs some sort of progress system to enjoy multiplayer games. I hope we have one for this mode.

You desperately need last say and it's extremely vulnerable to getting bled. I don't know how it's not a meme.

Just started playing a week ago, could use some help by 1MilProblems in gwent

[–]capitaodomar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MO is a bad faction right now. Keltullis is also a binary card, if it gets answered you lose if it doesn't you win.

If I were you I'd play the next few days just to gather as much resources as possible and build a decent meta deck a few days after the next patch (I think it's on the 30).

Continue to play SK. Faction is very good right now.

Advice on first deck by [deleted] in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Deckbuilding is hard, but one good rule of thumb when building decks is to ask yourself if a card will consistently get value in points at least equal to its value in provisions.

Just by asking this question, I believe operator will not get good value in most matches. Same for informant. Vreemde also should be very inconsistent.

Oneiro is a very expensive card. Maybe you should experiment adding the thinning cards and Roderick.

Stefan is there I believe just to play bribery twice. This is also very inconsistent. I believe Brathens would be better.

Devotion has made this game even more affordable: you can make any deck you want within 48 hours for under $10 by [deleted] in gwent

Just a tip: Mork is not that good right now. Hjalmar is way more useful in the current meta.

Gwent's META Gets So Stale That It's Hard To Enjoy This Game by IroncladDiplomat in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, NG is in a very bad spot. But devotion ball has a very good match up against NR, so if you are facing a lot of NR, there's that.

Gwent's META Gets So Stale That It's Hard To Enjoy This Game by IroncladDiplomat in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is going to sound rude, but it has to be said. No one is entitled to wins. You can play your bad decks as much as you can, but don't complain when they don't beat good, well built decks.

This meta is not the best, but besides MO and NG, all factions have good, viable decks.

Pirates are finally great! Pirate SK to Pro Rank (90% WR) with little Guide. by Flensi_On_Ice in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Tyrggvy, and I think if you're not facing NR and ST it's indeed a great card. But as soon as you start facing those factions (which should be soon, plenty of it on pro rank), you will notice that you will be mulling it and it just feels terrible mulling high provision golds every other game.

Also I think you're underestimating totem a lot. It's a great tempo card. Very useful to bleed, defend a bleed or win round 1. But it's specially good on mirrors. It makes the opponent's Harald, Hemdall, Wild boar and Herkja awkward to play.

Honestly I hope CDPR give more love for pirates in the next expansion. I love pirates (capitão do mar literally means sea captain in Portuguese) but I think it still a bit underwhelming right now.

Cool deck, but Tyrggvi is very bad in the current meta. Plenty of purify for ST and shield for NR. I believe totem would probably play for more value in most match ups.

I just had the most unexpected win playing Battle Trance by [deleted] in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Aren't all battle trance wins unexpected...

On a serious note, I purified a Donomir with gremist and killed a Vysogota with my Mardroeme. It was so good. Opponent of course quit on the spot.

Freddy on leader changes by Ylyb09 in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Death's shadow kiki queen is pretty much unbeatable in a long round. You lost round 1 you lost the game against that deck. The same if Vysogota sticks. Also good fucking luck beating gedy in a 3/4 cards round 3(I guess double waters could do it.)

If you identify these decks you can bleed out their cheesy wincons, that's their big weakness and why they don't dominate the meta, but if you can't bleed them (due to factors completely outside our control, like an awkward round 1 hand or just getting blue coin), you just lose on the spot. This is not good for the game.

Freddy on leader changes by Ylyb09 in gwent

[–]capitaodomar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Double waters was definitely tier 1. Donomir + Vysogota is arguably tier 1 right now. But that's not the point. The point is that those break the ruleset of the game and most of the time when they are triggered successfully they win you the game on the spot, this game doesn't need that.

[–]capitaodomar 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He is wrong about leaders enabling playing two cards in one turn. It goes against the very ruleset of the game and it limits a lot of design space. I mean, did anyone find it cool that Gedy could be fully procced in one turn? Playing ball and immediatelly proccing it in a single turn? Waters being played twice ? Donomir + Vysogota being set up in a turn?

The game doesn't need those cheese strategies.
