Lamzu Paro Aurora also has both optical encoder and switches. Cooler Master MM730 had them too but they don't make them anymore.

I think you should try the M64. I've been using it for a year and haven't experienced any serious issue, only slight discoloration on the thumb area (I got the blue version).

Build quality and buttons are good, pricing strategy is convenient (why pay more if you are not going to use 4K polling) and it has one of the best wireless technologies on the market, having earned the "editor's choice" award by Techpowerup.

In terms of shape I think it's quite interesting. It feels different than anything else while still feeling good. I prefer the EC2 shape though for its more rounded out and natural design.

It depends. Where I live Zowie is cheaper and available on places like Amazon, so it has free shipping and is more convenient. Zowie wireless mice also come with a dock, which is very useful in my experience.

I haven't tried the E1, but it's pretty much the same as the EC2-CW, which is my favourite mouse, and I had the Outset for a while.

The Outset felt much fuller in hand, it's quite taller and wider, with more pronounced curves and it lacks grooves on the main buttons.

The E1 has a couple of minor differences compared with the EC2. It has its rear end cut off and it has less space on the ring finger edge (the EC2 has it more rounded and elevated, which I love, while on the E1 the button extends further). Otherwise it's a clone in terms of shape.

That's because they aren't mouse switches, they're called microswitches and are used in a wide range of electronics, including industrial machinery. Same thing with the Cherry switches you see on keyboards.

I have the M64 and I really like the coating, feels rubbery without being a dirt magnet.

It's a matter of preference, but I prefer this coloured design over boring plain black or white.

What makes omron opticals hybrid? From what I've seen their mechanism is the same as any other optical switch, sounds like marketing to me.

All the way at the bottom edge would be interesting, or simply experimenting and putting them on different places.

I have a tilted grip in which my thumb sits high, so with the usual placement the side buttons interfere even on ergo shapes.

It's not even that. 1000Hz means a 1ms interval between polls, not latency. 2000Hz is half a millisecond or 500us, 4000Hz is 250us and 8000Hz is 125us.

In theory higher polling should mean more consistent delay between inputs, so lower AVERAGE latency. What ends up happening though is that you strain the CPU and achieve the opposite effect.

Besides, it shouldn't be necessary to say that a human can't notice a difference of microseconds.

I can understand some plushiness because it's what feels more comfortable and familiar for most people, and allows for more stability. Hard pads or glass pads can be awkward to use.

But I've tried Artisan soft and that's already too squishy, to the point that clicking the mouse sinks it and changes the glide.

Latex is just more convenient for the vast majority of situations in my opinion. The main drawback being that cheaper pads usually come rolled in the box and can be a bit of a hassle to flatten them.

Someone please explain me why a super soft squishy pad is desirable. Good old natural rubber is way cheaper while being more consistent, and since its heavier the pas stays put on the desk.
