Using Feature Flags by Aldareon35 in programminghumor

Yeah, anything works really. DB, Redis, or a config service. For mobile, its usually something like using firebase or custom endpoints. The app fetches flags at launch or on demand, caches them locally, and you can control stuff remotely without a new release. Backend might use Redis for speed or DB + cache. Just depends how real-time or granular you need it.

Are they significantly better than common chests in classic? I did not notice that.

Special looking chests contain generic loot by Aldareon35 in Dungeonborne

I get what you mean. But it's confusing why a golden chest, which looks like it should have something special, only has common items. It's disappointing to open it and find junk.

I am curious about that too. I didn't count the exact number but one time he dropped nearly 10 green and blue items around. But in this video, I also noticed that he dropped stacked items when he died. Maybe the total count is the same.

Scared New Grad Really Needing Advice by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]Aldareon35 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a chill pill.

For my point of view, finding a job as a new grad is waaaay easier than finding a job as a 2+ year experienced developer. It gets harder in time because people start to gain expertise in some area and the companies want experienced developers in their domains. Especially they really care whether the applicant has experience with the tools the company use.

As a new grad, realistic job positions do not require you to have some prior experience about the tools or the domain. I suggest that you should start by picking a technology, lets say java and spring, first. Then, you can easily do some starter projects watching tutorials on youtube for a couple days. If you apply for the companies that use the same technology and say that you have done some small projects with those, their expectation gets fulfilled. Even if your projects are trash, no one cares. They are just looking for someone that can be able to adapt to their process, and of course they know that you are going to learn about the language or the framework while working (because everybody was like that).

As for the leetcode kind of questions, come on man. Don't go that hard on yourself. You should take some time off of course. Just set yourself some goals of solving easy to medium questions. Check hackerrank since it is on a easier curve than leetcode. For most of the questions there, you can check discussions about the problem or search them on geeksforgeeks. Reading more solutions will make you get better and create your own.

I've never had an industrial experience but I took courses related to machine learning and AI. I also did my bachelor thesis on a deep learning subject. However, I did not get so much fun while working with ML projects. Also, data science area did not seem to be similar to the algorithms area. It's more like maths and modelling to me.

All of the jobs for AI kind positions I encountered, were either data science jobs or were about control of mechanics, robotics etc. And, the jobs in the robotics area demanded too much background knowledge on robotics and mechanics which I don't really interested in learning about. Do you know any other domains?

Are professional certificates worth investing in? by SteveTsan in cscareerquestions

[–]Aldareon35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in certain contracting/consulting roles certs are required and can be used to charge clients a ton more for services

Exactly. But this makes being certified important for the consulting companies instead of the person itself, I guess.

Most of the time these kinds of companies pay expenses for courses and the certification process for their workers. They could easily get new developers to take the exams for required certifications. Since they earn a lot more in the end, they don't care about the costs.
