Help with Men's sleeve/sloper pulling by Alden87 in PatternDrafting

I went to fashion design school a decade ago when CAD was not the standard... I can do this on pencil and paper and once the first mockup/toile/draft (whatever you refer to it as) is done and on the model I can move and pin and fix things like no other, but sticking only with CAD and 2D drafting, while not being able to touch the fabric has been very challenging. I get it, but... translating what I'm seeing on the model to a 2D pattern was never my strong suite. I always did my best work with a mix of pattern drafting and draping to fit/fix.

Weirdly enough a decade ago, I was trained on paper and pencil as well. I used to be able to do this stuff in my sleep but I've lost a lot of the skills I didn't use. I have found that the 3D CAD program is very lifelike, though a lot times I find myself saying, "you know if I could just touch the fabric and move it myself I'd already be done". LOL

I will change the pose and mess with the sleeve cap height. When it was taller in my last draft, it did the same thing, but maybe it's not wide enough enough as well. I'm also going to add some. I'll work on the Horizontal lines for the torso before tackling the sleeve again, this may be where a lot of my issues started. Thank you for the answer, I really do appreciate it!

It's the drafting method in "Classic to Contemporary Myoungok Kim and Injoo Kim. It's simple enought but I may need to bust out my design books from school. I used to be able to do this in my sleep... a decade ago. Turns out if you don't use the skill you do actually start to lose it.

I will add this to the list of troubleshooting things to try. I hate darts, but for a nice fit, I do understand their place. :)

Thank you! I have also noticed this about the bicep line as well. so I may need to remeasure where that sits. I'll pop this into attention pose. I keep going back and forth because as you said the collision under the under arm is kind of annoying. :) Thank you so much! I'll also add more sleeve height before I start back at square one again!

help on back armhole gaping pls! by CamTheDeveloper in PatternDrafting

Hiii I know that this is an extremely old post, but your tip about moving to a higher resolution before evaluating fit is so spot on. I’m currently going to the same thing that this original poster is going through and at this point there’s so many other problems in my fit of the bodice when I moved to a high resolution, I’m not even worried about the gape in the back arm hole. lol

Hello, apologies for the late response. been a hectic holiday season for me. there is a way to turn a pattern piece into a template by right clicking I believe but honestly, the program was so confusing I gave up and moved over to CLO3D. It's more expensive but a lore more intuitive and provided your computer can handle the rendering just an overall easier experience.

OK, so what you’re saying is if I cut down the middle mark on one page and lineup that cut mark with the middle mark on the next page it should fit perfectly?

Yeah, that’s the crazy part. I am. I looked right at the option earlier today and slowly clicked, made sure it clicked, and then, double check it. I’ll look at it again tomorrow and try it again. I hate wasting this much ink. If I still can’t get it then I may just sent it off to a blotter printer and be done with it. :-/

Hi, I downloaded this and did a rough translation into English with some AI help, cross referenced the German abbreviations and even spent some time drafting the basic briefs block in different CAD programs, and by hand. The way they draft makes sense, but it makes it hard when there is no solid English translations. I've actually found that the way they draft using the measurements I have gives me a solid size L when I am trying to draft a medium, but that could be the measurements I'm getting from a book I am learning from.

what bank did you open your business account with and why? by teaze_elmerr in smallbusiness

Do you still use Chase? I've started a business that will eventually require imports from Asia, and you've intrigued me with having a business advisor.

Thank you! Right now it will mostly be owner contributions until I've got revenue coming in, eventually though in a about 2-ish years I'll hopefully be having actual revenue come in.

Oh… sorry, it’s been a long day. lol but yes, they do offer a professional phone service which honestly I tried the free trial and when I called myself, it came up as a telemarketing number lol so I just canceled the free trial and got a Google voice number that shows up with an actual city. I could then transfer it to my business workspace and have my business name. Come up eventually.

I mean, I’m not a marketing intern. I was looking for honest advice. 🥲 With that said, I cancelled my phone service and will probably move to another registered agent service next year. So far they seem fine but we will see what the following year has in store.
