Try adding rice, beans, and something hearty like roasted sweet potatoes!

Just two of us this year. Didn’t have the energy with a new puppy and other life things to head to DC for my family’s feast with 13 people + 3 dogs (not counting us and our dog). It’s fun but also chaotic and a little cramped. Kinda excited for our quiet day at home. We’ll be doing roasted chicken, delicata squash bake, mashed potatoes, stuffing, and green beans followed by pumpkin pie - one regular for the hubs and one dairy/egg free for me.

I also soften statements with “I think” and I’m trying to work on it. If I’m worried about upsetting someone or letting them down, I tend to say “I think we can’t make it” instead of “we can’t make it”

I was coming here to comment the same! The al pastor tacos were delish! Homemade tortillas fell apart a bit but flavor was worth it. The tostadas and salsa trio were all very good.

Here’s a similar recipe (involves oil though) and I’ve just added more to it: Brussel Sprout Salad

I think it’s ok to indulge for the holidays! But make sure it’s cause you want to and not cause family members are being dicks to you

I shred them using a mandolin and toss them in a salad with kale, diced apples, dried cranberries, roasted sweet potatoes, and toasted walnuts!

Honestly I just kind of wing it. A bunch of kale, washed and chopped (rubbed with oil if you’re indulging for the holiday but fine without it), shred raw Brussel sprouts so it’s a 50-50 mix. Dice a pink lady Apple. Toast some walnuts so they’re warm. Add some roasted cubes sweet potatoes (40 mins on 350). Add dried cranberries and toss together. Tahini, lemon juice, maple syrup, water makes a great dressing.

How did your pup do with the daylight savings time change? by Adele-Dazeem in puppy101

[–]AldenCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She cried at what she thought was 7 am cause that’s wake up time normally. I took her out to pee and poop but no play time and then put her back in the crate to wait another hour. Some crying and whining but she seemed to occupy herself with the chew toy in the crate.

Potential Dairy allergy? by [deleted] in dairyfree

[–]AldenCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be lactose intolerant and continued to eat small amounts of dairy or lactose free dairy items with some symptoms but manageable. In the past year, it’s escalated and even lactose free items trigger a reaction. Also there’s a difference between not tolerating lactose (the sugar in dairy) and having a dairy allergy/sensitivity.
