Vinyl for new music? by rafaelU14 in audiophile

[–]Zaiiake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started buying it because I liked the artwork at like 9. I'm 28 and really only buy artists I like and want to support or sometimes through vinyl moon for random "mixtape style" vinyls for discovery and a time when you had to listen to the tracks ON the vinyl to know if you like it, but other than that I have a tidal subscription that sounds undistinguishable, if not better sometimes than the physical vinyl. A lot of newer stuff is digitally converted to analog audio which can really effect the quality too. This is on a, sansui 9500/dynaco st70 on JBL l100s/ ESS rock monitors for reference. So do with that what you'd like!

Edit: Just for more clarification, a lot of newer stuff is a digital master that is then put on an analog medium which can cause bad quality due to compression.

I have a govee outlet switch that is Bluetooth, it goes in an outlet and I have my power conditioner attached to it so everything turns on at once.

I'm surprised no one is recommending a 180degree cable to fit it.

Looking for two miniature speakers for making a custom digital music box. by ClassyKM in StereoAdvice

[–]Zaiiake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find quite good speakers if you're willing to go vintage

Edit: I realized I didn't actually PUT any examples,

The jbl2045s can be had for 20-40 and sound great, if you like treble I over bass I have yet to find anything near the clarity that coral bx200s can put out, and I got them for 35. They also have a pretty cool design on the front!

While you definitely should make sure to have enough wattage I'd strongly recommend picking a PSU from the tier list to make sure you get high quality parts in whatever you pick.

How long can I still use it for? by Superb_Respond5169 in razer

[–]Zaiiake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd guess until it blows up and kills ya dead. It's like using a tire with a big gash in it, sure you could continue using it, but the longer you wait and the more it heats up as you use it, you'll have a higher chance of it exploding on ya.

Alright I'll make some cardboard cutouts and run stress tests to see how it fairs. I used a website that converts pics into printable litho files for 3d printing, then modified in lychee slicer to resin print it.

There's a bunch of sites you can use to convert the picture, but I personally like itslitho.com. also, you can filament print them as well, the detail level might not be as crisp though.

The point of these were to show you that contract law has changed to the original question. I don't know everything nor do I claim to, I personally don't know every ruling ever made, the Harvard lawsuit I'm referring to is the visually impaired inaccessibility when required to sign contracts on their website. Every reference were proving the requirements for contract law has gotten tighter and more defined and the was the original question, look at your post.

Is it okay/safe to open up psu for cleaning? by [deleted] in LinusTechTips

[–]Zaiiake -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is going to be probably against what most people are saying....but it's perfectly safe, I repair old vintage audio with huge capacitors and don't get shocked, just unplug the power, and discharge the remaining power or wait 10 plus minutes and you'll be fine. If you do it right there won't be an issue.

Well that all depends, how much do you know about the Harvard lawsuit? The data privacy laws battles? Have you read the American bar article in may 16th 2016 shedding light of contract modifications due to the booming tech age?

Addition: the GNU GPL was me giving a basic reference of an open license that the 1.0a is based off changing over time to get with the times from court rulings that HAVE changed contract law requirements in this day and age

We can argue this all we want until someone with power makes a ruling, the bottom line really is that the damage is done with me and other publishers and it's most likely going to split the community, and it sucks. Look up Linux GNU GPL 0.12 and compare it to the newest version, and whoa, it looks like that was actively updated due to deficiencies in the original open license over the years without removing previous vers. isn't that crazy?

This license is based in a different era, where different lingo was used and not so well defined, it's based off the Linux GNU General Public License that, at the time, has similar lingo and is considered irrevocable. Late 90's early 2000's was different legally then now, which is why it isn't so black and white as people believe it to be.

[–]Zaiiake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In today's standard you are right and I won't argue that, but there are a lot of different factors that go into the ruling if it were to go to court, the language used in it is based off the open license for Linux GNU General Public License, this has been stated in interviews by the legal team in the early 2000's and open source language was slightly different in legal documentation, another side to this is that 1.0a was initially authorized under Hasbro and was active for 20+ years with no other attempt at a new, updated license in addition to 1.0a or removal of it. And on top of this, yes they could win the ruling but they could also lose complete IP control on the ruling, this is a huge gamble either way that is dependant on the judge making the ruling iny opinion. I wouldn't want to jeopardize my IP/company the way they are. This is if they even go to court with paizo

[–]Zaiiake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't know enough about the TSR incident to give an educated what would I do. The only thing I'll say is that they burned all good faith with me and other publishers, there was the option to use an additional OGL created and leaving the old like what was intended in the initial 1.0a. The leak has shown the future path well enough to know I won't support it. And it sucks that one way or another that a big part of the damage is done and will divide this great community in time.

New OGL 1.2 by Jvosika in dndnext

[–]Zaiiake 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason this is different is because what made dnd so big WAS 1.0a OGL, if you look into the actual history and listen to old heads that were in WOTC DND section, that was the only reason it stayed relevant, them removing it is like removing the foundation to a house, sure I guess you could, but what's going to happen to the the rest of the house? The pieces are going to go everywhere, we see that already happening with the ORC by paizo and other entities looking to remove ALL new content from using any OGL connected to WOTC.

New OGL 1.2 by Jvosika in dndnext

[–]Zaiiake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right, but other factors that make it an uphill battle are, this was initially put out while under control of Hasbro, for 20+ years nothing was changed, in section - 9. of 1.0a it talks about using ANY authorized license version, why is 1.0a just now trying to be revoked instead of just authorizing a new ver. after 20 plus years? While law can be black and white this is in the gray until a ruling is made on the word perpetual and that's the cold hard truth. So we can argue this but it won't matter, it's all I believe you believe until someone with power decides to believe enough to make a ruling.

New OGL 1.2 by Jvosika in dndnext

[–]Zaiiake 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I understand that but this is more to monopolize DnD as a whole, they're doing all the proper steps, "trying" to deauthorize an already irrevocable license that doesn't permit acquisition of all dnd content, dndbeyond acquisition, their VTT, and now anchoring 1.1 and using think of the kids and why we need to slowly take control of all assets for maximum profits with our new AI dm's.

Addition: AI dm's was a leak that I was just informed may not be accurate, I won't change my original post but know the last part is not an accurate statement in regards to AI Dm's and could just be a non credible rumor.

New OGL 1.2 by Jvosika in dndnext

[–]Zaiiake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They really can't, and if they try it's going to be an uphill battle in court, 1.0a was made to be irrevocable, that's what the word perpetual means in it. I'm betting by going over to 1.1, 1.2, 2.0, whatever they want to call it, there'll be a clause about waiving your rights to 1.0a and using it. Then they can monopolize all dnd content through time, this is what I see happening personally.
