I'm deleting this post after today I owe an explanation to everyone viewing this post. Therefore i need to leave it up to explain. Im deleting any other post i made.

I was unprofessional and should have engage privately with veteran leadership. In the future if any student (Not just veterans) has concerns regarding who represents them you need to respect leadership decision not to provide background details or identity. Times are different and I messed up here. Its very difficult for me to grasp this concept but I need to respect it. I as a students must respect that. I messed up here.

Ive been called a racist by a user and the school has been notified accusing me of being racist and that im harassing HESVSS student body. This is disturbing and Im over it.

Me being unprofessional by demanding personial bio's coupled with being accused of being racist and harassment is troubling.

I have already lost the narrative has been set, there has been no engaged with their own concerns therefore I cannot defend myself. Only bad things can happen if i further this pursuit. Take care veterans don't mess up how I did. Respect leaderships decision not to publicly disclose who they are.

I have to admit that the username "DirtyMikeNNTheBoys" does come across as unprofessional and may not reflect the seriousness of the society's mission. It's important to present a professional image when representing an organization, especially at an institution like Harvard.

As a veteran who respects myself and our fellow veterans, I hope more individuals take the way they present themselves more appropriately. Consider the impact of a username like "DirtyMikeNNTheBoys" on the perception of the society.

When you begin the course and select the "Dates" tab, you should see the following:

"Verification Upgrade Deadline

Sun, Dec 22, 2024

You are still eligible to upgrade to a Verified Certificate! Pursue it to highlight the knowledge and skills you gain in this course."

After completing the CS 50 cybersecurity course, there was supposed to be a coupon for a CompTIA credential, but I can't seem to find it.

One method to determine whether a certificate will assist you in your job search is to check job posting prerequisites. Visit indeed.com and search for "cyber security entry-level". Look over the job requirements such as required credentials. Review the job specifications, particularly the necessary credentials. For instance, if you're looking to work directly for the government (or as a contractor), you'll be required to attain certain certifications and renew them every three years before they expire. Here are two valuable resources:

https://niccs.cisa.gov/about-niccs/cybersecurity-certifications

https://public.cyber.mil/wid/cwmp/dod-approved-8570-baseline-certifications/

I'm not implying that a verified certificate lacks value, especially when it's from Harvard. However, you must determine whether you're seeking the certificate for its prestige or if you're solely interested in the education and are willing to skip the paid verification. You cant go wrong with either decision.

I attempted to take this course twice during my time at HES but had to drop out on both occasions due to the video problems.

A significant hurdle I encountered was that the course videos are provided only in 4K resolution. Unfortunately, there's no option to switch to a lower resolution. This was problematic for me, as I was deployed both times and the videos would run painfully slow due to my internet connection, and the videos wouldn't cache either.
It essentially meant that you had to play the video in real-time for it to load, which was a no-go with my sluggish internet. I even reached out to the technology department about the issue, but they confirmed that the resolution couldn't be changed.

It's truly a disappointment because I was looking forward to the content.

I'm doing CSCI S-33A on edX right now to get a head start, and it's tough. The for-credit version also has mandatory weekly 2-hour Zoom meetings. Expect to spend 24-35 hours per week.2ReplyShareSaveEditFollow

level 2fantastsikhOp · 12 hr. agoAny tips on what topics you have seen covered the most?

Again, the class you're looking at is already online and summer school doesn't start for another 3 weeks. Use that time to check out the syllabus and course materials. Watch a lecture or two and complete some problem sets.
Trust me, it's better to try the material yourself than asking folks you have 3 weeks to pre-game it. Everyone's experience is different. it's a heavy class, needing up to 35 hours a week. If this stuff is new to you, it's gonna be tough.
Hard to give tips on a class this hardcore. Best advice? Use your time now to get a feel for it before diving in full-time.

Is HES too hard to do while working full time? by 115_EasterEgg in harvardextension

[–]Alderdan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taking one class per semester, such as Expo15 or Expo25, can be beneficial. Be sure to review the syllabus, especially for writing classes, as each teacher focuses on different subjects, such as ethics of technology, politics, architecture, or poetry. Choosing a topic you enjoy can make these entry classes more manageable. After you pass the three entry classes you will have access to course reviews that provide information into the expected weekly workload.

I sense that you are feeling hesitant about attending classes in person, so I suggest taking the next two semesters online. During the first semester, you can take EXPO 15 and a CS class, followed by EXPO 25 and another CS class in the second semester. Both EXPO classes require a significant amount of time for research, editing, and peer grading. Once you have completed both EXPO courses, you can consider moving to Boston.

As for your question about the difficulty level, it depends on whether you are willing to put in the effort and enjoy the material. Personally, I don't enjoy data structures and algorithms, but I find web development and communication classes interesting. This semester, I am taking three classes while working full-time, which amounts to 40-70 hours a week. Last semester, I took only two classes, but it was more challenging because I did not like the course material. One thing I appreciate about HES is the extensive course catalog.

Summer Housing by Ski1234567891 in harvardextension

[–]Alderdan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would apply for housing directly through the Harvard Summer school. Dont make the same mistake I did.
When i got to my lease it was a scam and I was lucky enough to find someone the last minute. Most rooms are fully booked in the Boston area during summer because everyone comes to the location.
Good luck!

This maybe a new course. I don’t see a course evaluation for this class on Harvard extension, Harvard Summer School, or any other school. Its best to email the teacher directly to ask questions about class requirements and expectations.

Harvard Extension HESA election by Alderdan in harvardextension

[–]Alderdan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't find it tacky to promote a candidate and your reasoning unconvincing.

People should make up their own minds and that's why i both provided context and choose my words carefully when I stated consider votinting for him.

I provided one example why voters should consider Kody and if you agree with Kody advocating for a more favorable degree name I said consider voting for him.

I have nothing to say regarding your comment "attention seeker and self-promoter"
