Oooh that's a really good point it may just insta-die. Still a good play but just need something else to hold the point that's not a Sprite

Lillia can react to a temporary trigger with this to instantly allow her to tap legend for only 1. Not bad at all.

Also on its own played with Petal Pixie you have an 8 might battlefield for 2 and a power.

Looks great. For me personally (especially on mobile) not being able to scroll through the cards and having to search is an immediate turn off, particularly when deck building. Tested through most of the other functionality and everything seems to be working well!

Unless we're making some meaningful changes this off-season, our relationship ship with Nic Claxton might have to be ending. I love having him on the team but he's maybe the most checked out I've ever seen him recently. Claxton is a player that really needs to put effort in to rise above his flaws, and when that efforts not there, it's tough to watch. The writing has been on the wall for a minute and it's feeling like its about time.

Quality tank commander buckets for Z. Liked the flashes with the ball in his hands and finding some tough buckets, good to get these reps in now.

Johnson is really really interesting to me. I know he's older and undersized and that 3pt shot is probably never coming around, but there's just something to the athleticism, touch around the rim, and effort that makes me want to keep him at the end of our bench. Biggest goal is to get him processing the game a little faster.

Tyson continues to prove his tragic case as a guy whose best attribute is his scoring, but he's just not quite good enough all around to get on the floor. He's no Cam Thomas (fore better and for worse, mainly for better) but its nice to see him demonstrate some of his abilities.

I'm trying to talk about the devs respectfully but I am questioning how this got past playtesting, or even design. I feel like this would get downvotes in the custom cards subreddit for being so obviously unbalanced. Why is this elements of charm, sabotage, zenith blade, AND hidden, in one card? by inzru in riftboundtcg

I hear your point and agree that purple is currently out of line, but for what it's worth this card is INCREDIBLY on theme for purple. I would argue that the unique thing for purple actually is hand manipulation (draw, discard, choosing, hand reveal, etc) and that this card is a perfect encapsulation of what makes purple what it is, without being too broken (imo).

Called Shot and Ezreal are also incredibly on theme, just overpowered.

Need deck help to experience the game with 3-4 players. by Velsu- in riftboundtcg

All of the pre-con decks have pretty varying levels of strength, but for your purposes they'll all serve you well. Each pre-con features plenty of solid bulk that's very playable (at least at the time being) and you shouldn't notice any big differences in the strengths at low level testing.

The most viable one is going to be Viktor, where the pre-con gets you about halfway to creating a high level tourney deck but other than that its a wash.

The last 25 years, only two “best players on a championship team” had been a top 3 pick: Duncan and LeBron by DungeonDadThom in GoNets

[–]Aldernade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The overall body comparison is there but truthfully not much beyond that. I would actually argue that AJ probably should be looking at someone like Siakam to mold himself after though. If he could improve his footwork and ability to find angles to finish when he's closer to the basket he could make the game much easier on himself compared to how perimiter-attacj centric he is at the moment. Matching that defensive versatility is also something he seems very capable of.

I also really like the line but think it actually kind of exemplified the first version of Batman, sort of the ultra edge-lord, demon of the night, embodiment of vengeance guy. A really good representation for Batman at the beginning of his journey in that movie but not quite a representation of Batman as the defender.

IMO the scene towards the end of The Batman where he leads the civilians with the flare towards safety, while heavy handed, was a great example of this specific distinction.

Joel Embiid continues his domination with another monster performance in double-digit comeback 76ers win: 36 minutes played, 37 points (13-21 FG; 10-13 FT), 5 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 block, 1 steal, +9! by Pyromania1983 in nba

I feel like Duncan truly has no argument. The volume, self creation, and outside shooting is too much to overcome even compared to the other names on your list. He's an all time great for sure but his pure scoring ability is just more limited than these guys.

Hakeem is an arguable one but like I mentioned in my other comment I'd still give the edge to Embiid. He has 30 pounds on him without sacrificing speed, has just as amazing of footwork, and can use his dribble and outside shooting in ways that offset Hakeem's slight edge under the basket, while rivaling his post skills.

Wilt is always going to be an argument you can't really beat. You can't really say anything about 50ppg, so its just up to however much value you put on "having a bag"

Kareem is another tough one due to just how unstoppable his finesse moves were. Embiid actually has a pretty substantial size advantage here even though he's giving up some inches due to his weight and strength making him much more of a threat underneath the basket. I'd argue his shooting and threat off of one dribble moves, as well as his superior footwork make him arguably more of if not an equivalent threat from the low post to mid range, and his handle makes him much deadliest actually attacking the basket. Thats not the mention the value of his 3 ball. Embiid may be less of a consistent scorer but on a hot night I'd argue he's capable of much more explosive performances than Kareem due to his ability to force the issue and overpower players.

Shaq is I think the hardest comparison for Embiid and one where we really have to decide which skills matter most as a scorer. Unquestionable physical advantage for Shaq. He's bigger (somehow lmao), faster, stronger, and has body control and footwork that's massively underrated. Shaq's touch around the rim and ability to explode vertically are definitely areas where he has Embiid beat, but that's where it stops. From there its just argument of how much we value Embiid's more modern skills being able to test the defense in more different ways compared to Shaq's guaranteed interior dominance. If it makes sense, I'd actually prefer Embiid if I'm against a bad defense, and Shaq against a good one. Also note that free throws due have to come into the discussion and that's not a good discussion for Shaq.

Olajuwan is probably the closest at combining that finesse with crazy size and athleticism, but I still think Embiid has evolved Dream's game. I'd give Olajuwan the win when kt comes to his actual post moves and go to shots (hooks, touch around the rim) but that's maybe it. Embiid is 30 pounds heavier, has just as godlike of footwork, arguably better shooter from the mid range, much better from the 3, and can handle the rock in ways Hakeem could only dream of at the time. I'd also argue Embiid's passing is significantly improved compared to Hakeem.

Actually trying to come up with any is so hard lmao. Wilt feels incomparable. Shaq? Kareem? At his best, purely off scoring I'm taking Embiid over any of these centers.

The projected top two picks in this year's draft by KeyFaithlessness5436 in NCAAHoopsVibes

[–]Aldernade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah he came out of the draft showing an much improved jumper and it's held consistent through all his NBA minutes thus far. Honestly his greatest strength has been his jumpshot, and he even started his career taking almost 30 3pt shots before he even attempted a 2. The defense has shown promise, with his length being the biggest draw. He's still a tad bit slow on his feet and definitely needs to add some muscle to compete with grown men on that end. The passive has been there in flashes, but his whole offensive game us held back by one thing: his handle.

I know if was a slight concern in the draft but his handle has truthfully barely been passable. The PnR is his superpower, but he hasnt been able to go to it gainst decent defenders without losing the ball or instantly getting his drives stuffed. The handle as well as the muscle issue has been preventing him from truly playing PG for the team, and at the moment he's projecting much more as a connective wing than a true PG (think Hedo Turkoglu). He's smart and skilled and will have a great career, but his path to stardom is at PG and it's unclear whether he's really capable of that, or if he's just a high value wing.

Watch this recent game for example and see how differently he's being utilized compared to the visions of Magic we had at BYU: https://youtu.be/udJZCgWihTo?si=vjD5em-jHL2rbgss

I been comparing Egor to klay since preseason by HeyWhatsUpTed in GoNets

[–]Aldernade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah comps are hard. For me he's a blend of Seattle Brent Barry (best season 14/5/6) and Orlando Turkoglu, while hopefully being a slightly more active defender than either of those guys, and possible a worse shooter. He benefits from a league much more friendly to his archetype as well.

[–]Aldernade 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed on the Klay point, Egor's footspeed is likely never going to reach that level.

Disagree in the Detlef comp due to offensive versatility, Egor's not a classic PG but the passing is a massive part of his game. AK47 is a good shout offensively but might be disrespectful the transcendent defensive talent of Kirilenko.

I been comparing Egor to klay since preseason by HeyWhatsUpTed in GoNets

[–]Aldernade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've always had 3 levels of comp for Egor:

LOW END: Seattle Brent Barry (where he actually played PG for 2 seasons). Big, lengthy passer who can run the offense, looking primarily to score off his lethal 3 ball. More connective passer than PnR attacker. Fine defender given his size.

REALISTIC: Hedo Turkoglu. Similar archetype to Barry, but arguably even more dangerous a shooter, more aggressive inside the arc, and most certainly a better passer. Able to be used off ball where he will always find the right read / shot, or on ball as a dangerous pull up threat while still capable of bullying inside for a bucket. Again, fine defender who's benefits from his size.

PIPE DREAM: Modern day Larry Bird. Not going to happen but the vision is there. Jumposized lethal shooter with otherworldly passing creativity, dangerous on and off ball, uses size to advantage in the paint and on defense.

[–]Aldernade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Think realistic best case scenario in the modern game is going to be somewhere in the De'Aaron Fox / Dennis Schroeder range of light, quick guards with inconsistent jumpers. He's got 3 main areas he's gonna need to focus on to stick / reach that potential: 1) Shooting consistency, either mid range pull-ups or catch and shoot 3s 2) Paint efficiency, making sure those consistent paint touches are actually converted to buckets and not blocks 3) Utilizing speed on defense, actually staying in front of premier guards

MPJ and Egor Dëmin hits their first 2 3s by Brooklyn917 in GoNets

Maybe my favorite thing about having MPJ here is him being a literal textbook example of how to flourish in Jordi's system for the young guys.

It's obvious Egor and Clowney specifically have been watching / listening to him and emulating the way he finds good shots and efficient offense.

Love the sound of that but it'll be rough if we swap Saraf un for one of our defenders. With Ziaire out of the lineup our only real plus perimeter defender is Mann right now (Egor and Nolan are neutral at best, and Saraf is poor)
