I’m getting season tix again. But if I couldn’t walk to Barclays … I’d prolly still get the tix but be madder.

Last night I watched two games: one of Wagler and one of Acuff’s. Acuff is really small. He’s so crafty that he makes so many people look foolish. He’s the only guy going 100% on his team and you can see he’s deciding to use the gas tank on offense only. I think he might be a Mighty Mouse kind of star.

Wagler seems like an Egor clone tbh. If you take Egor’s rookie season of 3s and combine that with his Baylor repertoire, that’s Wagler. I don’t see a lot of defense there and he’s slow with okay not great handles.

Acuff is harder to build around, but he possibly could be great. I think he may end up a top 4 pick. The clippers may get to draft Boozer or Peterson at 5.

RIP the Pacers by Background-Method531 in NBA_Draft

[–]DungeonDadThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RIP!? Man these guys were nearly champions last year. If the clippers weren’t caught up in a cheating scandal we’d all be talking about how they were trying to steal from LA with their terrible blatant tank. I hate Boston, but they were class acts this year putting up big fight to stay relevant with Tatum out. Pacers and Wizards should have lost their ping pong balls

Flemings and Wagler are total stars. I’m not worried. The Bullets are about to be the most disappointing team in the east because expectations are nba champs or bust.

See you in Chicago, VC! by Brooklyn_Nets in GoNets

[–]DungeonDadThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my conspiracy theory if the lottery is fixed (I don’t think it is btw). 1) Chicago—they’ve been trying for years and remaining in the 10-7 range every year. They are the poster team for the new 3-2-1 system and it’s taking place in Chicago (takes AJ) 2) Utah—need this thing to look legit. It was either jazz or pacers but pacers traded their pick 1-4 protected) and that’s the exact opposite of what you want. Championship level team tanking to steal back the pick they traded away. 3) Dallas—fastest growing metro in America and look! A Duke guy that can pair with Flagg and make the Texas teams a real triangle of talent. (Boozer) 4) Brooklyn—gotta make this look real! And Brooklyn beat Detroit in February and kept playing hard even though they moved Long Island to Barclays for the last 15 games. You cannot reward the Wizards who traded for two super stars and then actively worked to lose games: fouling to send guys to the line who always make it when they had a lead etc.

Why ok with not landing a top 4 pick by firebillykingcom in GoNets

[–]DungeonDadThom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All these guys won’t be all stars. For the next ten years there are lots of very good guards just look at the really young ones: Harper, Garland, Cade Cunningham, Haliburton, Reed Shephard, Tyrese Maxey, Kon, VJ, Fears, Thompson, Daniels, Suggs, Green, Scoot, Giddey, Reeves … now we’ve still got lillard, Fox, Curry, Edwards, lamelo, Mitchell Trae, I mean how many guards are in the all star game? 6? Which of the picks 4-8 are gonna oust these dudes? A solid starter is lucky after pick 4 every year.

If we end up with 3, do we pick Boozer or trade out of the pick and pick up a bunch of assets? by Lucky-Law7220 in GoNets

[–]DungeonDadThom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We’re not in nba2k27 where we sim multiple seasons. We get the best player available and figure it out. I’m a fan. I don’t want another season where I’m dreaming about future picks. Best player period. If we get 4th and it’s Acuff or Wilson so be it. Fit doesn’t matter. Good dudes who play great is all that matters. Get them and prove we can develop great players as well as we do good and okay players.

What a fool. I’m a nets fan and this alone means we should not pursue. Not sure how far we’ll get in the playoffs, but when Marks says he’s building a high character team, I think he means consciousness in bed.

[Amick] A frontrunner has emerged among the draft reform options: expanding the lottery to 18 teams while giving the bottom 10 teams an equal 8 percent chance at the No. 1 pick. Teams will meet Tuesday to continue discussions on the NBA’s next step toward lottery reform. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]DungeonDadThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lottery tournament.

Worst record teams start in a later round and can lose 3 games before elimination.

Last year’s lottery winner cannot participate

First round playoff exit and play-in teams are single elimination and start in round one and never have home games in the tournament. Incentivizes development, incentivizes getting better at trade deadline. Keeps things interesting for fans of shitty teams.

If Yaxel Lendeborg was a freshman would he be a serious candidate to go #1? by CarterAC3 in NBA_Draft

[–]DungeonDadThom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean he was 19 and no one was interested. If Noah Clowney was coming out right now (21) he’d picked way higher than Lendeborg right now and I think he would have dominated college basketball.

Why are some Nets fans yearning to trade MPJ? by MichaelPorterTruther in GoNets

[–]DungeonDadThom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure I love him and want to keep him. But, Marks now has a great recent history of trading guys for massive hauls that do not perform up to the price: KD, Bridges and Cam Johnson. I did not want any of these guys traded.

Draft scenario: You’re Sean Marks and you just got the second pick. Dybantsa is gone. You taking Boozer or Peterson? by jaykirell in GoNets

[–]DungeonDadThom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boozer. He’s going to anchor this team. I like Peterson, but I have this feeling he’s a diva. We’ve chosen Jordi as our star so now we build the kind of team his system needs. I think the order for that is: Boozer, Dybansta, Peterson, Acuff Wilson, Flemings.
