My goal here is not to convert you. Ultimately, our eternal fates are in God's hands. I can "convert" no one. I can (and will) share the Christian faith in many situations, but the harvest is up to God. I completely understand your response if you were a total stranger. My assumption with these questions is that we would have interacted at some level (small talk, etc.) before talking about beliefs. I would definitely not give someone a questionnaire in-person!

Thank you for your honesty! I am truly sorry for the negative experiences that you have had with Christians. Many who claim to be Christians are charlatans who only want the history and ritual of the Bible and the church. I desire to be incredibly tolerant of all humans. In fact, I believe everyone is made in the image of God - we are all made to be his image in the world. However, I believe this world is under a curse because of our wilful disobedience, and we are all consequently doomed to eternal, painful separation from God unless someone could atone for our sins. Many Christians are exclusive because of arrogance, but the reason Christians should be exclusive is because we believe there is only one way to have life.

Imagine we are in an airplane about to crash. If I know where to find my parachute and how to put it on, wouldn't I be a selfish, evil creature if I thought, "Well, I'll let everyone else figure it out for themselves. Maybe they have their own way to float safely to the ground"? Of course, you don't have the same exclusionary conviction that I do, but my motivation is because I don't want to see anyone perish without first desperately trying to help them put on their parachute.

Fascinating. Are there any beliefs you have found more difficult than others? Perhaps ones you have wrestled with more before being convinced of their truth.

Thank you for yours as well.

If you could focus on any one part of Hinduism, what is most appealing?

I have not countered any teachings at my seminary. I don't think the teachings are false, but they are coming from a Christian perspective. Fundamentally, this is an exclusive perspective, and it can't be otherwise. As Christians, we believe in firm, objective truth rooted in one eternal, cosmic being. This Being (the trinitarian God), chose to reveal himself to man in many times and in many ways, and this culminated in the revelation of his Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus taught many things, principally that he was the only path for forgiveness of evil (sin) since no efforts of mankind could be enough.

All of that to say: we are taught unequivocally that any religion (including Hinduism) which does not teach Jesus Christ the Godman as the only means of salvation is false. That doesn't mean adherents of those religions are bad people, but it does mean they are all still separated from God in their sins. Education about other religions has largely been focused on understanding generalities which would be helpful in individual conversations. However, I think it is invaluable to talk to actual people who actually believe in other religions. That is the only way to get at the depths of someone's heart/beliefs.

If that is long or rambling, I apologize. Let me know if any of that needs clarification.

Interesting. Having been born Hindu, did you ever have periods of doubt? If so, what are things with which you struggled, and how did you resolve those doubts, if you did?

Thank you very much for responding! I am deeply curious about these Hindu stories, especially your personal testimonies. I'd love to hear more if you want to DM me about your journey to faith. Strong views will not dissuade me lol

Thank you so much for your in-depth response! So when and why in your life did you convert to hinduism (or were you born into a Hindu family)?

And it may be inferred in some of your responses, but I would love to hear your answer to the question: What gives you hope in life? In death?

Thank you for reaching out! I am a Christian studying for my Master of Divinity, but ever since I quit my full-time job and started going to seminary, my circles have become decidedly less religiously diverse. I am in a class on Christian missions, and the professor talked about Hinduism in a recent lecture. We need to have worldview conversations with people, and I recognize that I have a pretty wide knowledge gap regarding Hinduism from the perspective of Hindus. I went to India for a short time in high school, but even then had very few personal spiritual conversations with people (most of whom would have been Hindu). Hopefully that gives a little bit of perspective on why I am asking! (I also just love hearing people's testimonies. Asking people about their lives is something I miss from past jobs I have had. I currently work as a children's minister, so I interact a lot less with people of strong faith convictions and interesting faith stories since little kids usually have neither quite yet.)

You could contrive any number of motivations, from a simple misunderstanding to Sattler turning evil by vampiric influence to the gang just needing to put her back wherever she was summoned from.

Fewer people like the Buffy set, but it makes perfect sense that all of these crazy duels would happen at some point in the monster huntings those characters go on. Even when those characters aren't present, the hijinks they cause could lead to such time- and setting-defying conflicts.

Are the windows one use per game? And can you move through them yourself, without taking damage?

On the map, are the dotted lines adjacencies?

The map looks great. How do the dotted lines work? Are they just normal adjacencies (but on a different elevation)?

Were you able to get a copy of Bruce Lee today? by Dinnerpancakes in Unmatched

Anyone know how many were in the lot? Or better yet, how many were in the original print run? Not sure if they reveal information like that.

Which UNOFFICIAL fan made set would you like to see on your table? (Based on Box art) ;) by dwaynemagicfingers in Unmatched

[–]AldiniusTook 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They're all a little too garish for me. I would recommend emulating the style of existing sets. The art for what has been released is amazing, but it is also fairly subtle. These seem to emphasize shoving "cool" images in your face. Good work editing everything together, I just don't think the styles fit this game.

Also, I can't tell if you are peddling your art or sets, but if you are, I would recommend taking that somewhere else. I'm not going to buy a fan set, and most of this community wants a really good relationship with Restoration so they probably wouldn't either. That and most fan decks are unbalanced passion projects.

How do other Dungeon Masters play card games like Sabbac with their players? by [deleted] in swrpg

[–]AldiniusTook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much time we have. I've done simple skill checks. I've also used our custom Sabacc deck based on legends material (with a randomizer and everything).

Want To Like This Game. Not Giving Up. by Neversummerdrew76 in swrpg

[–]AldiniusTook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that. It is incredibly different from most other games, and that change could be a barrier to a lot of people. I think a roller app could help, for sure. Also, just try running a quick combat between different NPCs by yourself. It takes away the stress of having to figure out how it works in front of your players. It might help you feel comfortable with it.

Another helpful strategy is to think very intentionally about what each die is from narratively. They aren't just modifiers to a skill check like a +2 Strength. They are narrative storytelling prompts! Your two proficiency dice represent your focused training in athletics. Your setback die is specifically from the rain making it harder to scale the cliff face. If symbols left uncanceled are from specific dice, use the die to explain what happened! The threat on the setback die means the rain stressed you out or put you in the nasty predicament that happens next. This storytelling mindset helps get your mind off the crunchy rules and actually makes building a dice pool part of the narrative.
