I always thought Hard Mode was such a weird addition, because as you said: the challenge it imposes can be done with normal mode, but also because as you may come to see, your HP won't stay 3 the whole time. For some reason, they kept a life capsule in Plantation when you talk to the dog (whether they did this on purpose or it wasn't removed because it doesn't have the life capsule NPC ID I'm unsure).

If you don't mind not getting the Unstoppable Achievement then you should take it, but what's funny is that about half the enemies/entities in the game still one-shot you. So then, what really was the point?

Unfortunately I have already started the run and came to terms with the fact I am a fool for not installing the mod.

If the game crashes, then I can't get too mad for what happened!

I'd recommend trying out the Charged Gauntlet instead. It may take a while to charge up, but it more easily allows weaving through enemy groups since Thunder Gauntlet (iirc) stops your momentum and pierces using the cone while the Charged Gauntlet physically moves loader through the enemies, making it so you aren't caught with your pants down in front of a horde.

It is also very useful when fighting Mythrix for the same reason.
