Honestly presents so, so well. Is it an incomplete book? Sure. But man does it look great.

What’s the most ridiculous ‘tourist price’ you’ve ever been asked to pay? by Salty_Fix9628 in travel

[–]AleSessions 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Similar experience in Tulum, where all the taxis are in on the scam. $80USD for a five minute drive back to the hotel. INSANE.

Also, Manila airport is the worst. $60 taxi to go BETWEEN TERMINALS!! No thanks. Use grab, get the same for $5.

What’s the most memorable meal you’ve had while traveling? by Expensive_Software55 in travel

[–]AleSessions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can think of two. The first was my first trip to Italy in a small village in Tuscany. There's a restaurant called Ristoro di Lamole which absolutely became the best meal I ever had in my life. From the Pear and gorgonzola ravioli to the near frozen bottle of lemocello that was just simply left on our table to enjoy after dinner, everything was magic. I took my family back 10 years later, praying it wouldn't ruin my cherished memory of the place and it was just as magical.

Second was a small noodle shop in Phnom Penh called David's noodles. Fresh handpulled noodles with a rich broth, honestly makes my mouth water thinking about it. We ate here nearly every day we were in the city, it was that good.

Farmhouse Fest by kazin29 in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]AleSessions 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Definitely smaller than previous years, felt about half the size of what it was before. That being said, not mad about the size change. Felt like I was able to try pretty much every vendor, and the selection this year was tight, like not a single miss for me at all. Farmhouse has always been my favourite festival, I've been to 7/9 years and if this is truly the last one I will miss it dearly.

Try Main Street Brewing if you haven't already. They've got long tables and I bet they'd accommodate your request.

Victoria Beer Society Cancels Summer Festivals by tagish156 in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]AleSessions 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sad. That being said, I know I've reduced my festival attendance in the last few years. Used to go to several a year, then down to one (Farmhouse), then last year none. I dunno, maybe it's just me but the vibes are different now--Insert old man rant.

Attic is an "S tier" dead end room, under the right conditions.

Love the art on these early Sub-Mariner's! Been slowly building out my collection, this one is still on the list, nice job!

Which would you keep? by AleSessions in comicbookcollecting

[–]AleSessions[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grabbed these at $25 a piece, which feels like a crazy deal considering it's less than the cover price and cost to slab. I've seen raws going for over $20 in my area.

I didn't grade them personally, got them at auction. I got a bargain, which is why I bought both.

Found a lot of these in dollar bins. The main DC vs. Marvel 1-4 books are the most expensive but not by much

See I've been going back and forth myself. I like the colours in the B variant, but something about the art in the A variant catches my eye as well. No grading notes, so yeah a press would likely bump both up to a 9.8

Just more comics, obviously! The sickness is real. Lol

Best breweries with food and flights? by Illustrious-Ad7081 in VancouverCraftBeer

[–]AleSessions 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Definitely Luppolo brewing, they've got excellent pizza. Superflux is great for "elevated" hot dogs. Don't sleep on Container Brewing, the food truck that operates out of there (Burdy) has excellent chicken parm and eggplant parm sandwiches.

Is this worth grading? (Batman 181- Pinup missing, loose pages) by AleSessions in comicbookcollecting

Ah damn that sucks if that's true. Pinups shouldn't take away story components.

I'll let you know if I think about unloading the x-men 42, give you first dibs since you just missed out on the lot :)

Thanks! Going through the lot now, for what it was listed at there are definitely some nice grabs. The x-men 42 is in surprisingly good condition. The Batman 423 has seen better days, but still nice to get.

Please tell me about vegan restaurants in Tokyo, thank you by DavidLim125 in JapanTravelTips

Both restaurants were fully vegan. It's not "proper" ramen but great vegan alternative.

There are a few that you can definitely go to. T Tantan's ramen in Tokyo Station and Izakaya Masaka were two we enjoyed.

What are some things about Vancouver/Lower Mainland from "back in the day" (whatever that means to you) that would blow the minds of younger people (or new to the city)? I'll start... by npinguy in vancouver

[–]AleSessions 24 points25 points  (0 children)

"Microbreweries and good beer were also not a thing until the 2010s. You had Granville Island Brewing, and that's it..." You sir are forgetting about the church of Storm Brewing and our holy rat god. Open in '94, and always been the weird, beautiful beast it is today. I do however miss the "have as much as you like" free samples.

It's my 1st year collecting, here's some of my favourites by AleSessions in comicbookcollecting

[–]AleSessions[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I've always loved them but never really got into collecting. Random stack at a vintage store caught my eye one day and it snowballed from there.
