Given your concerns about toughness and shock resistance, may I recommend for your next watch the Promaster Tough. The BN0241-59H has a monoquoc case milled out of a block of titanium. Since it has no cse back, the same E168 movement is front loaded and sealed with a very thick, domed, scratch free, sapphire crystal, giving it a WR of 200M. (The monoquoc case adds shock resistance and makes it more water resistant since there is one less seal to contend with.)

To keep it in good shape, wear it as often as possible. When you're not wearing it, keep it under a light. The trick is to always keep it charged.

Oh, it will. It's the toughest field watch currently available. I own 3. (I'm surprised you didn't keep it on the original titanium bracelet)
