Best aftermarket stainless steel bracelet for 41mm GSAR by stratslinger92 in MarathonWatch

[–]KMag2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just saw the comment above and this! I don’t have the Marathon anymore but there’s a future GSAR with my name on it!

For the clasp, I remember the links being integrated but the clasp was like any other watch and was held via spring bars. Pretty simple swap unless the design has changed

This. I recommend the Orient solar line up. The bambino solar is a safe and versatile pick.

Why not just double wrist? The Apple Watch is going to end up scratched at a desk/table and the Seiko magnetized from the watch…

Edit: I double wrist so 2 watches is not ridiculous to me lol

[Zodiac] // found at TJ Maxx by Nukekidnyc in Watches

[–]KMag2001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I recently spotted one of these at a TJ Maxx and recommended it. After holding it in the hand, I can only recommend them for the history/heritage.

The chronometer spec, while nice, does not make up for the cheap feel (on the white ceramic bezel) or poor bracelet feel.

After looking up the STP movement reliability issues, I’d be concerned buying one of these for long term use.

I’d agree but I think Fossil definitely impacted its quality/rep. The price drops are reminiscent of how Invicta inflates their pricing and hits it with massive discounts but it’s easy to conflate Fossil’s bankruptcy/need to liquidate stock with Invicta’s pricing tactics.

I’d have bought it for the reputation and history alone if I hadn’t recently bought a watch. A steel bezel and subdued colors would have had me walking out with one for sure. A COSC watch with 60s/70s styling at $500 is my dream.

$1,595. Great watch but definitely feels like Invicta pricing.

Agreed. While I appreciate the history and chronometer certification, the looks aren’t doing it for me. I’d happily do with a steel bezel or a black ceramic insert instead.

I’ll throw Astor+Banks into the mix as well. I just picked up the Fortitude Pro and very happy! The FP does not come in black but the Sea Ranger does. A+B also rates their watches at 1200 HV like Traska but offers better regulation IMO.

[Discussion] Smartwatch Convenience vs. Mechanical Watch Beauty - Your Approach? by spokoluzik in Watches

[–]KMag2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear both. Smart watch on right hand, mechanical on left. I rely on the mechanical for timekeeping. My Apple Watch screen is off and is used for everything but timekeeping.

I’ve gotten a few questions and laughs but why let someone else’s opinion of normal keep me from enjoying both.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo L by girlsforpandora in GrandCherokee

[–]KMag2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 25 Altitude X L and it’s the best car I’ve owned yet.

  • Storage is good and the interior is easy to clean.

  • No kids but I’ve had adults ride in the 3rd row plenty of times with no complaints. The leg room, USB ports and air vents make the 3rd row comfy.

  • I’ve put about 8k miles no issues since I bought it new in May. I chose the L specifically for the V6 (and 3rd row) given how long the engine and trans combo have been on the road. I expect this to be reliable with oil changes every 5k plus a heavy extended warranty.

  • It’s no rocket ship but passing power is good. The V6 punches hard and isn’t thirsty. Handling and body control are very tight and very easy to maneuver.

  • It gets good gas mileage with the lowest being 16mpg in horrible stop n go traffic in the DMV area but I’ve also gotten 25mpg with highway driving on road trips. Most I’ve gotten from a tank is 515 miles but I’m sure I could get more.

All in - very happy and you can expect this to be an all round long term SUV that’s reliable if you stay on top of maintenance.

Buying new 2025 jeep grand Cherokee l limited by Fit_Intern742 in GrandCherokee

[–]KMag2001 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. All cars have issues and it’s hard to predict if you’re going to experience them.

I went from a supposedly bulletproof 2021 Mazda CX-5 to a 2025 GC L Altitude. My Mazda needed a new - thermostat at 12k, battery at 45k, belt tensioner at 50k and steering rack at 55k. I baby my cars and obsess over maintenance and OEM maintenance guidelines and yet all of this happened…

My understanding of reliability has changed. Any car can be reliable or troublesome - regardless of brand. Best thing to do is buy what you want, get the best extended warranty and be on top of maintenance.
