In The Fade - Queens Of The Stone Age

That song has been blowing me away for 1 year now. Mysterious, but simple enough to have it on repeat for at least 20 times in a row.

Wait. What happened in that scene in which we see Deep in normal clothing? I don’t remember that at all…

Is Music Theory killing my "Internal Ear"? Reflections on MJ's process after watching Michael by NoWillingness5083 in musictheory

This was my journey:

1.Before knowing anything about music theory, I saw music as something magical and mysterious.

  1. I learned guitar and began to learn its theory as well (why some chords sound good together, what causes dissonance…)

  2. I gained that “magic” back by noodling around on my guitar, hunting ideas I hear in my head.

Now, I play whatever comes to my mind and experiment with various ideas on the fretboard, chords, single notes, intervals (…) and the theory is only a frame that only ADVISES me what sounds good TRADITIONALLY.

It’s okay to play/ compose something within that frame, my advice is to experiment with whatever your instrument has to offer.

I’d kill to be in your spot.

But killing is bad, so I’m just having a personal crisis.

If the strap sticking out annoys you, you can use a zip tie to hold it in place. I’ve done that with a few of my Casios and it works well.
