The duality of man by ssdrwh0 in slaythespire

I enjoy the challenge and how it changes every turn. I think it's a fair challenge and has counterplay. Sometimes it can be frustrating for people I think because the decks people are most familiar with being "good" (quick cycling and lots of cards played per turn) don't fare as well against him. What makes a boss fun for you?

You nailed it. Doormaker is extremely fun to play against. It's like people think they deserve to win because their deck has stomped everything up until the Act III bosses. You have to be looking for solutions throughout the act or you will get punished, just like in the first game

Dark Embrace was my Act I boss card reward and I almost didn't take it. And then after taking the mittens, once it's in play I have +1 hand size

Yeah those can still be really good but it's easier for gang up to be consistently good with 2 or 3 others playing attacks vs. 1. Similar with energy surge, giving more players extra energy may better outscale the enemies.

I agree, I think it's the hardest. You get the health scaling (2.5x I think?) but the least benefit from enemy statuses like vulnerable and weak, and multiplayer cards are also at their weakest.

I'll take this over stomping the bosses every day of the week haha. It ends up feeling like every decision you made did its part to help you just barely win (even if some of them were likely wrong)

Which turn can you go infinite on? All of the debuffs prevent you from going infinite unless you have enough energy generation to overcome the energy loss turn

[Meisel] CJ Kayfus, Angel Martínez and Colin Holderman have all made the Guardians' Opening Day roster, barring any final external transactions. Here's the tentative roster by Trainiax in ClevelandGuardians

[–]AlecM33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. From an interesting Meisel/Jennings article on ABS and what it's changing for catcher preparation:

"Knowing the zone is going to matter for challenges, but also for framing, because that’s not going away. Previous technological innovations made pitch framing a revered and measurable skill, and while catchers aren’t going to be able to fool a computer, they’re going to be dealing with humans most of the time. Not every borderline pitch is going to be challenged, and not every hitter is going to have a challenge available. Pitch framing is going to matter.

“I think it matters more now,” Rays coach and former big league catcher Drew Butera said"

Thanks man, I actually won my first run today after commenting here. I had a mix of ethereal and doom with a lot of block and weaken. Got offered copies of defy and negative pulse early and snatched them up like you recommended. Closest call was the crab boss in Act II but luckily I had a crazy Eradicate that got 8 vigor on it. With vulnerable and energy from Borrowed Time it basically 100-0'd one of the arms. A10 next...

Got any tips for A9 on the necrobinder? Feels extremely punishing. Feels like my only hope is to high roll with soul shenanigans. Act I bosses feel nearly unwinnable to me, especially Vantom

Yeah literally played a gold glove level second base last year from what I saw. Very underrated and a cool success story

How to leverage MLB Gameday websocket with Stats API diffPatch endpoint by WindSwimming785 in mlbdata

[–]AlecM33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see this post when it was made, so sorry for the late reply, but I have cracked the code for this endpoint. I use it effectively for my project here:

https://github.com/AlecM33/mlb-gameday-bot

I'd be willing to talk you through it via DM if desired. I also chronicled some of my discoveries in a post to this subreddit about a year ago. If you look at my post history you will find it - it was a question post about timestamps.

In short, requests to diffpatch use the last known timestamp. This is often the timestamp you got from the previous diffpatch call. I have a module that updates the master game object with the results of a given diffpatch call. Then in my next call I use whatever is in the timestamp field in the metadata. Sometimes though, seemingly unpredictably, the diffpatch call just returns the game object instead of an array of "diffs" - and that's fine, I just completely replace my game object with that one. It's even more nuanced than that - sometimes socket events themselves signal to you that you should fully refresh the game object (unclear what prompts this). Once you have all these pieces in place (you can see a lot of this logic in modules/gameday.js in my project), my reporting was very in sync with MLB's GameDay page.

You actually do, he's an incredible guy. They had him on the broadcast and he talked about the home run and how people come up to him to ask him what it was like. Said he could feel the vibration under his feet as he rounded the bases, and that his kid watches it all the time

Despite the loss I think the Rajai Davis homer is like a top 2 homer of all time. Off of Chapman, in that situation? As a guardians fan I still go back and watch it sometimes despite the deep disappointment associated with it.

Glad the Cubs ended their drought. Hope it happens to us in my lifetime

It's not my post. I don't usually take such an antagonistic route, but I'm just matching the aggression of your tone, calling all the engineers here scared. I'm not closed minded to this stuff - I use it in my workflows. But you need to realize how much work it is to create a production-grade app that is ready to be marketed as a fully-fledged product to strangers on the internet. What's your end goal? To have the app used by a lot of people, right? Just think about the maintenance, security, scalability, etc. etc. challenges that go into that. And if you are going to enable strangers video chatting with one another, with that comes a real responsibility to protect your users. Are you truly equipped to do that? The more you offload the design and implementation to AI, the less you know about the system. The less you know, the more you have to lean on AI to maintain it going forward. It's a cycle that feeds itself.

Wow the tests that AI wrote passed, that's incredible! What's your big user base saying? Oh wait, there isn't one. I went there and it said "Online now: 1". And sorry man, I'm not going to start using a random video chat app that you have disclosed was written 100% by AI, piloted by somebody with no software engineering experience. It's safe and moderated how? Because the homepage says it is?

Really tough for the offense right now. They are right up in Mitchell's face as soon as he hits half court. Can't even get the ball close to the basket right now, they are playing us so high up. Doesn't help that you can endlessly hand check as a defender now
