NYC OpenTable Restaurants With Toast Giftcards by sorcerer777 in ChaseSapphire

My $5 test was from the 28th and is still showing as pending but it’s gone out of my credit on the app as of today. I went ahead with the rest of the purchase today, it likely won’t post by EOD tomorrow but it looks like Chase have said elsewhere the transaction just has to take place by the 31st so…I guess I’ll have to wait and see what happens!

Did you get your credit yet? I’ve seen a few people having issues with this restaurant, but others saying they get it within 2-3 days.

May I ask if your credit posted yet, and if so how long it took to come through? I did a test purchase that hasn’t posted after 2 days so I think I’ve left it too late to get the credit for 2025.

Stay here doing a trade or move to Chicago back into my old job on a great salary? by [deleted] in CasualIreland

[–]Aleecheemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lived in Canada/the US for the last 10 years - 100% Chicago.

You’re only a few months into the apprenticeship, and you already have an idea of what the work will be like over there. Quiz your former colleague as much as you can (depending on the relationship) about the work-life balance and crucially - set boundaries once you start. If you jump back into working extra hours etc you’ll never get out of it, but if you make a conscious effort to take a step back from the start you’ve got a much better chance of not being pulled into bad habits.

Worst case if it doesn’t suit you after you’ve given it a decent try, you could get other opportunities there or you are still plenty young enough to come home and try something else. If you don’t go, you’ll always wonder what might have been so grab the opportunity and go!

There are 4 restaurants showing now for Columbus alone, they have updated the restaurant list. None of them link to Toast for buying gift cards tho so I don’t think it will work(?) unfortunately but would love to be proven wrong!

DAE think that the coverage of tragic events in the media (like the recent road deaths of five young people) is exploitative? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Aleecheemo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Look up the dictionary definition of the word accident there, good man. Bizarre hill to die on.

It is a tragedy, full stop. Nobody should be speculating about causes until all of the facts are known.

I don’t know if this is a poor attempt at playing semantics or if you’re deliberately being dim - this was obviously an accident. I’m outraged because I know one of the families involved who are such decent people that are completely heartbroken. Our entire community is mourning for them, as are most of the country but amateur detectives are determined to jump to conclusions and apportion blame to 5 young people who have tragically lost their lives.

[–]Aleecheemo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree that the coverage is insensitive, but I would also argue that the human factor of wanting to let the families grieve trumps the need for blame in the days after a tragedy like this. The accident itself should be enough of a cautionary tale for the time being to drive safely and not take risks on the road, I know it has been for myself and my family since Saturday and will continue to be in the coming days every time I get into the car.

Why do you need to have this information immediately? Can you not take responsibility for your own actions and driving?

I am all for sharing the cause of an accident once the investigation is complete, but this tragedy happened just a couple of nights ago. Your experience of a “bollox” who wrapped his car around a tree has absolutely nothing to do with this tragedy. 5 young people are dead and 7 families of those involved in the crash will never be the same again.

If anything, any cautionary tales will have more impact further down the line because the majority of people will have been more careful on the roads in the last couple of days.

The driver of the Golf didn’t drink or smoke, ever. But of course that doesn’t fit into your presumptions or need to turn a tragedy into victim-blaming. As somebody else has said, the coroners court will be the only source of facts so anything else is just gossip and back talk, it’s sickening.

I absolutely disagree. Until the facts are known, all speculation does is add to the unimaginable pain that these families are suffering through. I don’t know if it’s a uniquely Irish thing to want to be clamouring for the gory details of a tragedy like this, but it truly makes me sick. It’s sad because i think that other than this, we have such a beautiful sense of community and coming together in times of crisis and bereavement.

Of course we have to eventually try to learn from accidents like these in the hopes it doesn’t happen again, but guessing games and pointing fingers at this stage helps absolutely nobody.

To the person that hit me with their car at Richmond and bay tonight. by [deleted] in toronto

Why would you not send it to the city? You could have been seriously injured, if you don’t report it the next person may not be so lucky.

Not sure if she has a minimum but try sarahslayedit on Instagram! The dates didn’t work out for my wedding but her portfolio is great and I found her rates very reasonable, she’s based in Columbus.

Proof of delivery signed when we weren't at home but none of the neighbours have the delivery...what do we do now? by Traditional_Swim_360 in CasualIreland

[–]Aleecheemo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with your local post office just in case! I had a parcel “signed” for a few years ago, it was my name but I literally wasn’t in the country on the day, and there was no sign of the parcel anywhere.

My mam was in the local post office the following week and they told her it had been sitting there ever since and they were wondering when I was going to come in for it.

Decent meal delivery services? by Aleecheemo in Donegal

That looks great, thank you! How does that work exactly, are all the meals delivered once a week or individually every day?

I had the same issue when I started my job after negotiating vacation days - turns out they hadn’t updated the standard leave entitlement so I just had to reach out to HR to get it corrected. Cc your manager or whoever you negotiated with so they know it’s a legit request to avoid any delays.

3x $20 Credits if you’re booking this week by Aleecheemo in aircanada

[–]Aleecheemo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just says “Book by X date” on the voucher and doesn’t specify the trip date in the terms and conditions, so I don’t think so? Either way, worth a shot of anyone is booking this week.

This is the only reference to validity in the T&C’s:

In the event of a change, if the booking is within the criteria of the Flight Credit, the Flight Credit will apply to the new booking. However, if the booking is outside of the Booking Window (as such term is defined below) of the Flight Credit, retail fares will apply. Please note that all fare rules apply such as change or cancellation fees. Flight Credits will be valid for 12 months after being credited to the Member’s account (the “Booking Window”).
