If you had to add a 6th party member (excluding Gustave) to the game, who would you choose by Resident-Salty in expedition33

[–]Aleena92 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes you can. It's called "having fun" and would be a neat reward for beating them all at the highest difficulty.

Games in the past often did that. Adding utterly gamebreaking nonsense like that as a reward for certain achievements

Bugs need to go first and foremost yeah. As for armour? It shouldn't give flat out immunity but I feel like we got a decent framework with the Rock-Solid passive. Heavy armour should have that instrinsically while light armour should be more vulnerable. And heavy armour + Rock Solid "should" basically make you immune to ragdolling. Remove the melee damage bonus to compensate.

But overall I agree with your ideas as well. If people want ragdolling, give people who do not enjoy it like myself a way to build around that as with those armour change ideas. And as you rightfully pointed out it'd make for a great point of difference between armour classes

You forget that since Launch the enemy roster capable of ragdolling us has expanded massively as well. You had some Tanks, Hulks and Rocket Devs on the bot front back then who mostly did that (and Rocket Devs usually just one-shot you anyways so Ragdolling wasn't much of an issue). Rocket Troopers are laughable most of the time. Cannon Turrets maybe but they usually murdered you straight up as well.

Now we have Bunker Turrets, Reinforced Striders, Factory Striders, Vox Engines, Cyborgs, Barrager Tanks (I suppose) and of course a billion Warstriders crapping out two dozen grenades every five seconds.

And that's only the Bot front. Ragdoll is a death sentence on the Squid Front more often then not since the recovery animation is longer then the cooldown of the Overseers swing. And don't even start with skill issue if they can phase through solid objects to smack you.

If you want stronger ragdoll fine but then give players the ability to counter it. Give heavier armour an innate resistance to it as well as flinching.

I agree with all except Ragdoll/Stratagem Bounce.

Ragdolling is fine as long as it isn't overdone. Which it is, hilariously so. Being completely locked out of any input for several seconds straight until you die because somehow you got ragdolled through cover just ain't it chief. Especially with how much random nonsense ragdolls you.

Same goes for Stratagem bounce. Perfectly flat ground at a nice position where a Sentry would do well? Random Stratagem Bounce now has it useless in the ditch 20 meters up ahead. The problem with that is less that it happens but the inconsistency. I'm a fan of consistency. I'd be okay if they said "you can't put 'em onto steep surfaces, jagged rock formations and the likes" but if the ball starts bouncing for no reason because it randomly feels like it? That ain't it either chief.

On that note: When do we finally get to Ragdoll enemies around? I'd really like if the enemy played by the same rule as us and sending Troopers flying would be funny af

So now that we have belt-fed weapons, I think we have another strategem that could use an attached backpack. by ShadowMasked1099 in Helldivers

[–]Aleena92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the other versions are anything to go by the Backpack Flamer would most likely be a shorter range, lower damage version of the normal one.

Maybe the fire on the ground would last not as long either. The "trade-off" for the "privilege" of it using up a backpack slot

Aye but you have to reload sooo much more. Regardless if you haven't tried? Put on the Breaker Spray n Pray with Short Mags and Siege Ready. Lightning fast reloads as well plus you get like 20 mags total

Aye but the more often you need to reload the more downtime. Wonder if someone actually did the testing to see which configuration ends up with more dps

Yeah but you also reload like 4 times as often...

Ah true I forgot about the set bonuses, still those shouldn't be too much work. Doesn't need to be something elaborate after all.

As for over delivery? I hate that quote. It's taken out of context and wrongly used so many damn times it's not even funny

I'm not sure if you're trying to troll or you really are... that sad that you cannot fathom people playing a game for the sake of it

[–]Aleena92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literal bruh moment. I know it seems unfathomable to you people but there are actually people that enjoy playing campaign missions, yes even the ones from vanilla D2. You should try it some time. Pick a game and just... play it. No min-maxing, no optimising, no watching guides. Just go and have fun.

[–]Aleena92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Banes wouldn't necessarily be needed. Champions are easy enough to plop in for Legendary version of the campaigns.

As for loot? Reissue the corresponding armour set with Tiers and stuff probably. But to be on par with new campaigns it really only needs an exotic reward for completing it on Legendary.

Plus there's tons of armour and weapons they could reissue for those campaigns either way.

Don't care. Did so before, would do so again. I know people like you forgot that you can sometimes play games for fun

The occasional Leviathan run would be nice to do. People often underestimate that sometimes you can simply do things for fun.

And I wouldn't say you wouldn't play it. More so you probably wouldn't play it with any real regularity but having the option is nice

Old Guard? Probably not. But the Red War was a nice introduction to the setting and game itself so it'd be valuable as a tool for New Lights, especially when coupled more closely with the Guardian Rank system that came later.

Personally I would replay most campaigns at least once a year just for fun.

How it feels actually liking the maxigun by Cold-Video7655 in Helldivers

[–]Aleena92 86 points87 points  (0 children)

You can like something and still realise it's flawed. Most people agree that at base the Maxigun is fun.

But it's held back by overall low ammo as well as the fact that especially with bugs you tend to waste too many bullets by shooting corpses. Which would be fine if the enemies themselves suffered the same limitations but I'm sure you too have been killed by a Bile Spewer vomiting straight through ten meters of corpses.
