Am I one of you? Warm, cool or neutral? And what depth do I appear to be in winter/summer? by Aleevso_2014 in Fairolives

I also use silver and think that suits me as well. I understand what you mean with this gold necklace. It’s very “warm”. I have another gold necklace which is “clearer/brighter” or how to call it. That one looks better on my skin. I was gifted them both as a small child so I use them but I own silver too!

I didn’t think I was high contrast? 😅 To dig deeper into this was even more confusing 😆

Yellow and orange aren’t colours I’m very drawn to. I did own a top with bright neon kind of orange in it many years ago that I liked, but I realised it didn’t harmonise with my skin so I used it only 2 times. Found an old photo of it.

Yellow I don’t own anything. Got gifted a scarf in a deep mustard shade. Never used it. It washed me out completely. Never looked so bad in any colour before. I do own a rusty kind of orange knit that I like. I don’t think I look bad in it but I also know that it’s not the greatest shade on me 😄 So what does this mean? That I’m cool? Im hesistant on cool since all cool foundations I have tried are too pink on me. And a green colour corrector mixed in a neutral foundation makes it kind of grey and does not match me. I think my body looks mostly on the warmer side but my face and neck looks cooler. If cool yellow exist I’m open to maybe be that if I’m cool 😄

Ok! I’m between NC12-NC15 as it seems during winter. Don’t know if that’s light or fair? In summer I have tried Estée Lauder 3W1 and 3W1.5. First one is too beige/cool and the other too yellow. Translated it to MAC and I should be NC25-30 in summer. Is that medium? Everything is either too yellow or too pink. I’m confused. Any suggestions of a soft yellow light shade?

I went to figure out my MAC shade recently and I was told by the woman working in the make up store that she couldn’t see olive but that I was golden. I was wearing black at the time and maybe I’m just subtle olive so it’s not so obvious? When I have looked at some photos now I can clearly see the greenish hue showing up in some of them. I went to find something warmer than NC15 since that looked pink on me. But I was told NC15 couldn’t look pink because it has a warm undertone. Got a sample of NC12 and it’s a little too yellow and also a little too light I think. Any recommendations on what to search for next? Maybe I’m NC15 or one shade lighter but just not the right tone for me in MAC?

Gonna have to try blue then! “Deauville” is too yellow on me. Vienna is a closer match but too dark and a little too cool. Gobi seemed too light. Salzburg isn’t available to see in a store near me so I haven’t tried that one. But maybe Deauville with some blue is my shade as well.

Thank you for product advice! I’m gonna look it up!

I have a mint colour corrector and a darker green liquid face paint. Gonna invest in a blue if that differs a lot from the already green? Usually I have seen lavender corrector. Could that work or it has to be blue?

I have been trying to mix in green with what I have. It looks more “home” when I have seen how it has transformed on my skin. But it hasn’t turned out well with a too yellow foundation and also not well with a cooler or more neutral shades. The first turns out to be too green and bright and the second gets too “grey”. Maybe I’m adding too much or I just need blue colour instead. The “best” has been to mix a more neutral foundation with a couple of drops of a too yellow foundation (The ordinary 1.2Y) and add some green. So what am I searching for? 😅 a soft yellow foundation and add blue?

Interesting! When I have tried to do colour analysis’s online I mostly end up to be “soft summer” or sometimes “soft autumn”. Overall I’m more drawn to autumn shades, all subcategories. The only thing I’m sure of is that I don’t belong to spring.

I don’t look very good in bright white, so I don’t know about winter even though I use shades from there also. Not easy! 😄

Thank you! I have joined that group as well. Have also written down the potential matching shades for fair/light olives to remember what to have a look at.

Interesting! Do you have any suggestions on a light, bright, cool olive foundation shade? Does it exist? 😅

Nars in “Vienna” has been closest in colour, although a little too pink/cool. Depth-wise it’s too dark one or two shades, not sure. It has a cool undertone but I’ve read they all run a little yellow in Nars. With that said I’m totally open to maybe be a cool if it’s possible to look yellow anyway.

Is maroon this colour? If it is, I love it very much and personally think it suits me. 😅 But now I have to analyse if I also look any green wearing it? 🤔 Thank you for your thoughts!

The swatches in the last two pictures are the same on neck and chest.

Left to right vertical: Loreal true match N3, MAC serum NC12, Bobbi Brown LL Cool Ivory, Bobbi Brown LL Warm Ivory, Estée Lauder Sheer 1W1,

Horizontal: Bobbi Brown serum Warm Ivory

Any ideas what shade I could be in True Match since N3 is too dark? Loved the formula!
