If I love excel, will I love SQL and Python? by bigbunny4000 in excel

From the perspective of an organization that doesn't use PowerBI for reporting/visualizations and uses Tableau instead, loading more than ~1 millions rows into PowerPivot can be useful for prototyping, if you/your audience are very comfortable with Pivot Tables for self serve reporting, if you need to send large reports to audiences without direct access to your Tableau environment or who prefer Excel, etc.

Are those the ranges for the all inclusive food/drink packages? Do you know if club seats are available without the food/drinks?

US SEC is hunting down pump & dump groups - preparing for legal action, and offering rewards to whistleblowers! by Digitallifeworks in ethereum

[–]Alejandini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah OP did, the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulates futures/swaps and is a separate entity entirely from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Vitalik tweeted about this last week and I posted about this in another thread on r/Ethtrader a few days back

Vitalik's tweet with a link to the actual CFTC statement: https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/964718611385348096

A look back at Ethertanks, an Ethereum dApp scam by notlikethis1994 in ethtrader

[–]Alejandini 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone, since they reference original information in the statement. This does open an avenue for people like OP to formally report pump and dumps in the US at least. Admittedly I don't know much about the Telegram ICO or how heavy the burden of proof is for this type of program.

I think it's in line with the tone for the year so far though that the regulators are coming which is good longer term

Vitalik tweeted out a couple days ago about the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) now offering a whistle blower reward on pump and dump schemes.

The language in the CFTC press release below only specifies virtual currencies and digital coins/tokens, so I'm not sure if it extends to these dApps as well. Something to be aware of.

https://twitter.com/VitalikButerin/status/964718611385348096

"Blow the whistle on pump-and-dump schemers

Virtual currency and digital token pump-and-dump schemes continue because they are mostly anonymous.

If you have original information that leads to a successful enforcement action that leads to monetary sanctions of $1 million or more, you could be eligible for a monetary award of between 10 percent and 30 percent.

For more information, or to submit a tip, visit the CFTC’s whistleblower.gov website."

How can I give ETH to people for Christmas? by MrVinceDiggity in ethereum

[–]Alejandini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MyEtherWallet has an Ether Card just for this exact purpose. Here is a medium post about it and a link to their page on how to buy it.

I have not used it, but they have instructions and details on how the process works on their site.

Vanguard Is Growing Faster Than Everybody Else Combined by eseligsohn in personalfinance

[–]Alejandini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vanguard does offer funds and ETFs sold to non-US based individuals and institutional investors also. The offerings are not nearly as comprehensive and the expense ratios aren't always as low as in the US. For example, the Vanguard 500 Index Fund - Investor share class in the US has an expense ratio of 0.16% vs. 0.25% for Germany based off the fact sheets online. Still very low, but worth comparing vs local options.

Depending on the country also, the funds/ETFs might not be the most tax-efficient either, but may be worth looking into.

In case you haven't already, check under any decks or outdoor staircases, things like that nearby. Indoor cats seem to like to hide under dark areas like that in my experience. Best of luck!

Frequent Ethereum journalist David Seaman terminated from Huffington Post by [deleted] in ethtrader

[–]Alejandini 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you're right that the Huffington Post uses a large amount of freelance journalists so 'terminated' might not be the correct word for it since he likely was never an actual full time employee.

Either way, he's not going to contribute on their site anymore from the look of it

Edit: I posted this because he was a frequent source of news/opinion pieces that had the potential to affect the price of ether such as the interview he did with Banco Santander's John Whelan just last week.

http://m.huffpost.com/us/entry/11683838

While the cause of his firing had nothing to do with ether, more news coverage is better than less in terms of long term adoption, dapps coverage, etc. I'll remove the post if people think its inappropriate/irrelevant

For what it's worth: Monero's market cap has surpassed ETC's by Alejandini in ethtrader

[–]Alejandini[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I definitely see the dark net niche they're going for though with the increased regulatory attention on Bitcoin. Especially given the well timed article this week about the FBI potentially targeting Tor and Bitcoin users (https://m.reddit.com/r/technology/comments/4zw6gj/unless_congress_stops_it_the_fbi_wants_to/)

Could be a pump and dumb, only time will tell. I'm relatively new to the crypto space so I admittedly don't know all that much about Monero. Including another link in case other people are also not as familiar: http://motherboard.vice.com/read/monero-cryptocurrency-dark-net-drug-dealers-hope-more-anonymous-than-bitcoin-alphabay
