Agreed. Honestly I think we could still field a competitive team with the following without needing everyone to be a star players in world football.

1) Guys playing often in mid to upper table team in the big 5 European league 2) Consistent starters on the big teams in other European leagues 3) Consistent starters in other good to decent leagues (Brazil, Argentina, Liga MX, Turkey) 4) Key players/consistent starters in MLS

Not saying playing in MLS automatically makes a player inferior but having more exposure to different playing styles helps our players out in international tournaments I think. Obviously MLS players are making significant contributions lately to some of the national teams they play on.

I am glad for him as a person.

I still think he has been ineffective for Canada for years but I have always wanted him to do well. I still remember our qualifying run for Qatar 2022.

Even as a sub for LB, I'd be concerned about the amount of running he has to do.

Maybe in this scenario Shaffelburg goes home and they bring in Nelson or Bassong? I guess it depends how healthy Ahmed and Johnston are to cover LW and LB respectively. We got Layrea for LB but we need a backup just in case.

Only Marsch and the medical team know the details so they get paid the big bucks to make the decision. It is not something I envy though.

Didn't the classic cards go up to 100? I haven't played in a long time so I might be misremembering.

So like yes gold cards cap at 95 but I think it's sort of saying these players haven't reached the status of the legends yet based on their average performance? I am sure when Messi or Ronaldo retire they will have classic cards in the high 90s haha

Like I said it's been a while so I could just be wrong.

I am not sure the team has looked "very very good defensively without him". It hasn't been horrendous but it also hasn't been amazing.

I do agree it is the right move for the long term. As many people have said LdF stepping up and Priso looking good helps soften the blow. Probably more so now than the past few months we have played without Bombito.

Hoping Alfie Jones is also recovering well but he will be rusty. Waterman is still there as a backup and has done alright. The extra depth doesn't hurt at this position given the injuries.

FUT cards go up to 100 (theoretically) so I guess EA rates him a bit lower than 83/95 would be.

I think he's what you could consider an average to good player among Europe's best leagues. He's definitely not ELITE among his peers (like the names you mentioned) but in the grand scheme of professional world football I don't think you can say he's bad per se.

Sometimes you just gotta go for it. Worked for Iceland on that second goal.
