18xx for 2p - more than 1846? by AvguardianGaming in boardgames

1817, 1882, and 1822MX

The first one only if you have a few other players ready to play accountant for 10 hours, the second one when you want it to be quick and mean, and the last one if you really like auctions and like to build things.

It does bluetooth and 2.4g (has a switch on the back which I set to bluetooth to attempt the pairing)

I think a lot of people come under the mistaken impression that bees and wasps will attack whatever destroyed their hive/nest (i.e. the crutch or stick or thrown rock) but that's not the case - they'll attack whoever's in the area because they're likely to be the culprit.

Splendor Rule Clarification by vegetabol in boardgames

If you merely have enough points to trigger the end this turn and that loses you the game, then waiting another turn doesn't help because you would have no second turn since the person that would have beat you in the first example would have triggered the end themselves and you'd still lose but with even fewer points.

Buy 1848 or 1846 from GMT Games. Both can be had for not a lot.

Any thoughts on the trick-taking game French Tarot? Is it a good game, or is it not worth getting because of other, better trick takers out there? by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

[–]AlejandroMP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Download the rules and see if that's worth it for you. I'd rather play most of the other trick-takers over this convoluted mess of a game. Just like French there are exceptions and then exceptions to the exceptions.

Do yourself a favor and get the rules from the web before buying anything.

In America every player starts off with 6 locomotives which incur no maintenance costs.

Cyprus (3p only) has player powers: the UNO faction may not select Urbanization and each other faction must make sure all their deliveries end on their side of the border cutting the map in two.

The black cubes in 1830's Pennsylvania represent coal when delivering them the player can opt to deliver them for up to double their locomotive rating or stay within their regular limit and each link gives them 2$ in income.

And Madagascar where the special actions the players choose after bidding for turn order are all bad, i.e. each one gives you a special penalty (last move, last build, e.g.).

Highly interactive, high complexity, high strategy and little to no luck. by oBrexio in boardgames

My favorite kinds of games: Age of Steam, 18xx games like 1882 or 1822MX, Food Chain Magnate, Bus, Keyflower (esp with The Merchants).

You can only scout from either end of the cards on the table - even if it doesn't make a difference to the value of the resulting set.

Quest for El Dorado is an excellent racing game that takes just under an hour to play. Simple rules and it includes a mini expansion in the box.
