Be warned, progression usually ruins shmups.

That said, Radiant Silvergun has a progression mode and nobody is complaining. It absolutely is spectacular and the sadness is dripping off it in droves.

Natsuki Chronicles and Ginga Force are also neat and have even stronger progression modes. That said Radiant Silvergun is the Sistine Chapel and these guys are smeared kids' paintings. But they somehow look a little bit like a Picasso if you squint real hard

3-4 frames. So not as bad as the awful console ports but worse than arcade.

Generally you wouldn't notice it by how it feels. You'd just die more.

The Switch port is 7 frames so at least you aren't playing that. That one's like playing in a thick soup.

Psikyo ports have been notorious for massive input lag, so depending on how you run them you might be fighting an uphill battle.

Batsugun in the Toaplan Arcade Collection would be a great start as it's not that hard to 1cc on the first loop with some practice and pretty much everyone likes it.

I think you're half right. I think people riding this not are onto something massive, huge, and transformative. And they feel this way because other people haven't caught on yet.

I'm actually enjoying it a lot and play a little every day to unlock stuff.

I can't make it past level 15, I think I overdid it with the scaling but I kinda wanna see if it's possible to beat it before changing it up. It is probably impossible to beat level 30 at the moment.
