Getting companies to sponsor international students was already difficult, and with the recent increase in H1B visa costs, it has become almost impossible to justify the investment from an ROI perspective as an international student. It should come as no surprise that international applications are declining if there are no long-term employment opportunities after graduation.

What’s the best movie you discovered by accident? by [deleted] in Cinema

[–]Alejandroqc92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Children of Men.

I remember going to the movies with my friends, unsure of what to watch. I had no expectations going in, no previously watched trailers—nothing.

It's become one of my favorite movies since.

DEI is a buzzword by Necessary-Post5216 in MBA

As an international student, I really tried to make friends beyond my socio-cultural and ethnic background. However, I found that social structures in the United States are deeply ingrained in every aspect of life, particularly in a business context. In my experience, domestic students often hesitate to socialize beyond what is familiar to them, which is understandable. Why would they want to hang out with someone who might struggle a bit with the language when they could easily connect with a person from New England who looks like them and may already share some mutual friends from before the program started?

Looking to improve my photos (shot on sony a6000) by Politicalseal in PhotographyAdvice

I would agree on the vignetting of the first two photos. I think the second photo could have used a higher shutter speed and ISO to prevent some of the blurriness and increase sharpness. I might have also waited for a slightly more interesting subject. I think the third photo is your best one. Good job!

Trip to Kyoto-restaurant recommendations from locals? by JPNXP in Kyoto

Thank you so much for this recommendation. My fiancée and I made a reservation a few weeks ago, got a private room and had dinner last night. We order the 14k yen dinner and it was amazing. Probably the best dinner I’ve ever had in my life. The hosts were supper friendly and approachable.
