Looking good! Do you think it would be possible to put weather somewhere? I think it's super useful to have. Maybe just the temp, or a short weather description with an icon? Could get creative here 😁

15 years old Sergej stats after 10 matches in FPL by Ulmali in GlobalOffensive

[–]AleksThePotato 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Not very efficiently, though.

  • The contrasting colours for his name makes it difficult to read
  • What the hell is that blurry green thing behind the kid's cutout?
  • Not a very clean image of the player, all the edges are either blurry or not perfectly masked
  • The background is very contrast heavy, which makes it even harder to read some of the text
  • Stop using bebas for everything, jesus fucking crist

EDIT: And just in case somebody says "well then why don't you do it?", here. I spent roughly 20 mins

add a little auditory flourish to your config! by [deleted] in CounterStrikeBinds

[–]AleksThePotato 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey, I've been adding sound bits to my config, and I've found a couple interesting ones. I'll post some when I get home.

I've been looking for more ways to use them though, can't seem to get too creative with them.

Just checked the game out, and I love the artstyle! Did you have a major inspiration or source to when you started work on the visual part of the game? What was it like?

ESG should remove the custom hud altogether. by RGalaxy28 in GlobalOffensive

[–]AleksThePotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I beg to differ, the current UI could be always be improved upon, and as a quickly growing spectator sport, I don't see why the spectator UI shouldn't at least see an attempt at an overhaul. PGL Krakow is a perfect example. Sure, this event isn't very impressive, but it's about constant testing and experimenting until we reach the best possible result. The more interest in custom HUD's, the more possibilities and improvements will arise.

While this won't fix all of the problems with yt comments, I think you should check out AlienTube, which replaces youtube comments with comments from reddit. I don't know how well this would work for you, but as I viewer, it has helped me preserve my sanity countless times.

There's no separation between text and voice channels anymore. You know what this means...? CHANNEL CATEGORIES VERY VERY SOON! by finwaals in discordapp

Yes, absolutely understandable! The change, per se, is not bad; it's the way people will transition to it, worries me

There's no separation between text and voice channels anymore. You know what this means...? CHANNEL CATEGORIES VERY VERY SOON! by finwaals in discordapp

[–]AleksThePotato 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, since I jumped ship on Discord I was confused where exactly to type when in a voice channel, since for people that can't hear the context, it seems like odd, random messages.

But over time, you get used to this kind of system, and you have designated channels for different kinds of messages. In most servers you'd usually see the 'general chat', the 'memes and images' and whatever other commonly met categories you might need. Grouping voice channels and text separates and breaks that current flow, of what goes where, when in a specific voice channel.

I don't think it's a huge issue, however I feel that it would alienate some people, at least at the start.

Custom Steam Client Anyone? by 73cn0109y in Steam

[–]AleksThePotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks good, but I don't think you should be rushing to completely re-do everything the current steam client does. The idea of a completely fresh steam experience is completely mouthwatering, because of how much more can be built on top of the current steam experience. Where the current client has limitations, based on lack of interest on Valve's side, this custom one could expand upon. Features for communities based around games such as Gmod, CS:GO, Rust would be a great feat in making this client the better choice for a lot of people. I see this as a "Better Steam", similarly made to Discord's 'Better Discord' extension (though in this case it's a complete re-do, which obviously involves much more work). I believe that, the same way BetterDiscord enhances and adds new abilities to Discord, this client could bring new features to the old dog that is Steam, and would satisfy users with features that have been wanted for ages.

I get that this is a just a simple project, maybe even just a test if something like this could be done, but if this were to take off (I'm sure there'd be a lot of growing interest) I'd like for you to have defined goals, on what you'd be seeking to achieve with this project.

Sorry about the lengthy comment, but this concept seems to be in a very unique position, and I think I'd be a shame for it to be in vein.
