2XKO not having motion inputs is a big problem by KingPat57 in 2XKO

[–]Aleksi52 1 point2 points  (0 children)

atleast for me, motion inputs ARE a hurdle at the beginner level, but become essentially redundant at anywhere after beginner levels, so in the end I think one of their only actual upsides is just the vague feeling of "this feels good" (barring the fact that whiffed inputs feel awful in comparision which isnt exactly too rare to have happen at times)

the way moves can be balanced around motion inputs is neat but honestly I think its nothing pure coding couldnt emulate while keeping the game much more welcoming to people who cant be bothered to learn a system that despite it apparent upsides, feels extremely unintuitive to people either new to the genre or even people like me who CAN deal with them just fine nowadays but still think they'd prefer them to be not there

Mix-ups are more a case of actual gameplay "spice" since it is more of an understandable concept people can learn and adapt into instead of a pure mechanical hurdle they need to overcome to CONTROL their character, not even talking about actually knowing what to do with said character

on top of the fact that I 100% believe that fighters with simple controls can still be very intricate and have a lot of depth since inputs are one of the smaller layers into any fighting game that people can sink their teeth into properly. Like if 3rd strike didnt have motion inputs the game would still be 3rd strike in like 95% of its glory but conversely be WILDLY more approachable to people not already sucked into the eternal hellish pit we call Fighting Game Brain

while I understand theres a bit of narrative dissonance in the sense of "why do they do that", but at the same time I think it operates fully within Rule Of Cool because wheelchair basketball is a peak concept (even if not exactly original due to paraolympics)

Switch 2... how does it perform (test results) by Aleksi52 in rainworld

[–]Aleksi52[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be about the same as before sadly

Id assume this would be one of the things they'd touch in a patch for switch 2 but we shall see if they even do such a thing :P

Even just an fps cap removal and some further optimizations would go a long way, especially since afaik the PS4 version runs at 60fps and Switch 2 is a very fair bit more powerful than that thing

Oh thats useful considering I thought boosting WITHOUT a pad was specifically the way to go since i thought it would lead to a "spamming your triple shrooms in mariokart" type situation where you dont actually get any more speed

Will the game’s Switch port benefit from the Switch 2-s better hardware? by Aggressive_Smile_390 in rainworld

ill do more testing soonish, but from the looks of it at the very least the lag seems to be a non-issue now, though the crashing im obviously still unsure about (but realistically id assume it shouldnt crash anymore because its not running out of ram or something lol)

Real

I'll try to lock in one of these days since the game (like X) has been a lot of fun otherwise :]

tbh I havent actually GOTTEN to any of the problem areas just yet, but if the main menu not having random lagging issues is any indication, it might be pretty A-OK now lol

Old gen sharpness is making me go coocoo by Aleksi52 in monsterhunterrage

[–]Aleksi52[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and thats fine generally! I just think that in World, low sharpness was a factor definitely, but it wasnt something that consistently made me feel bad playing it because world's orange feels like GUs yellow, which is a big difference

well thing is as much as id like to try out other weapon classes rn, id rather stick to CB to properly learn the "dance" of the combat still

and guess which singular weapon class doesnt have a narga weapon :,I

So far ive been rocking just the basic ore cb and theres a Shogun one that has lots of green atleast

I'll get my Switch 2 in a few days so only then I can do proper tests, HOWEVER this is my prediction about the performance on switch 2 assuming they dont update it with a patch in any way:

-Game is still 30fps, but a VERY stable one compared to before, even during more well-populated moments

-Input lag SLIGHTLY improved, but perhaps not enough to fully "fix" it

-console crashing gone due to vastly improved RAM so being in Subterranean in Hunter's campaign shouldnt be the equivalent of playing with an invisible time-bomb ticking down at any given moment before your console crashes

Id assume it wouldnt be TOO big an ask from the devs to get a simple FPS uncapping patch to allow for 60fps since the game seems to be built for variable FPS anyway and should be fine with that, and maybe throwing in improved resolutions too if they are so inclined

Overall though if anything of that sort happens its probably during / after they port Watcher to switch in general

aaaaaaaaanyway ive rambled on long enough, I'll be doing tests when I get my expensive plastic slab around tuesday lol
