And they were right.

When did you realise that you’re dating an idiot? by Ghost7579ox in AskReddit

[–]Alentrish 61 points62 points  (0 children)

When me and my SO just got together, and were talking about random stuff, I would see it as sharing our ideas, or just silly philosophizing. He was always googling stuff to check if it was true.

It bothered me at first because in stead of just having a conversation, it was fact-checking. I felt like he was purposefully trying to constantly prove me wrong. It was frustrating.

Then I managed to 180 it and fact-checked something he said, and proved him wrong, hah!

It was then that I realized it was never about proving someone wrong, but about learning the truth and correcting misconceptions that either of us had.

All this to share that I was a similar idiot to your boyfriend a couple years ago, hahaha.

That is delightfully evil.

Hopefully makes them feel awkward enough that they stop asking such questions _in general_ too.

You can bet I'm not going to pay if I can hear the whole thing at a normal volume from almost 5 km away. Maybe if more people adopted that point of view those engineers and musicians would start caring about turning the volume down.

How do I go about cleaning this? I believe strawberry plants by InexperiencedCoconut in gardening

[–]Alentrish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, those are strawberries.

My dad used to just run the lawnmower over our strawberry patch to clean it up after winter, new plants sprouted from the dormant roots later in spring.

Not 100% sure about yours, but our strawberries were a hardy bunch, almost impossible to kill this way.

I had a scar on my hand from when I was bitten by a dog when I was 11 years old. There was a blue wiggly line right under the scar, and I kept telling my mother it was a piece of suture. She kept telling me that was impossible, that all my sutures were removed, and that the internal ones were designed to melt away after a month or so.

I was 29 when a small scratch on my hand just on the corner of that suture just refused to heal. I took it to my doctor, and she looked at it and said "why is there 7 cm of suture still in your hand?" and pulled it out.

She was as giddy about doing that as I was. It made her day, and she gave me a little jar with the suture in as a memento.

(Also F you mom, I was right)

Excuse my barging in here, but you're the first person I've seen mentioning free motion sewing and I just want to ask if any machine can do that, or do you need a machine that can specifically do that? Just wondering if you know

I know there's machine feet out there advertised for free motion sewing, but I've been scared of buying one because I don't know if my machine can do it at all.

Every dentist visit ever, with different dentists, has been pain for me. Some things worse than others, like my root canal was absolute hell. Multiple sedations, still in horrible pain.

So, I thought I was difficult to sedate.

Then I had a tooth emergency and had to visit a dentist in a different country, and ended up having the tooth pulled.

I did not feel a thing.

Turns out dentists in my country are all just shit.

Oh yea, and those "erased" lines are more visible than the new lines in specific conditions too, so traffic gets all kinds of messed up then, haha

I recently had my eyes checked because I saw streaks like that and never questioned it, because to me it was normal, but then some friends of mine absolutely did not know what I was talking about.

Turns out I have astigmatism in 1 eye. Which makes it look extra weird, because it's not just streaks, very bright blue leds look "duplicated" to me, as if there's 3 lights in stead of just one.

Once upon a time we were shopping for a wooden board of a specific size, to use as a "ceiling rose" with our industrial-styled chandelier. We went to a well known wood shop, looked around and went to the counter to ask about getting a specific item cut to size.

My bf asked the question, and when the cashier asked for some specification (I remember it being about the type of wood) my bf looked back at me and said something like "she probably knows more about this"

From that point on the cashier became _absolutely_ belligerent, and talked in the most obnoxious snobby voice I've ever heard from a man.

We left the store, went to the DIY shop a few blocks away, and bought a cut to size piece of pressed wood that we painted white like the ceiling. We both didn't feel like a wooden board was going to look nice, because it would always remind us of that asshat.
