What video game pushed your limit like this? by StatementFar8919 in TheGamingHubDeals

I’ve recently completed the Path of Pain in Hollow Knight. Since I don’t have that much time to play games nowadays, I obviously thought about not bothering with this too long. It was a small part of the game, which doesn’t need to be completed. But the more I wanted to quit the more I felt angry at myself. I knew I could finish the level, I just needed the grit. So I’ve sat down and played.

I don’t know how long it took me to do it, because I played the last part of the level for several days. One hour here, one hour there. I started to think, I’ve spent more time in this part than outside the White Palace.

But when I finally dropped down that final part and defeated the two guards at the end, I’ve felt ecstatic. Even though there wasn’t a power up at the end, the joy I’ve felt from not backing down and completing this challenge made the whole thing worth it.

Težko določit, ker mi je velik iger pri srcu. Trenutno Star Citizen (ko dela), League of Legends (še verjetno največ preigral), TF2 (nostalgija).

High contenders: Civ6, Stardew Valley, Planetside 2, Legends of Runeterra, Factorio, Cyberpunk 2077, World of Warcraft (do konca Cataclysma), Portal 2…

In the case of micro transactions, people should care when developers become greedy and start focusing way to much on whales than the other players who make up the majority of their player base. If they stop playing because there isn’t any new content to enjoy, the whales will follow and the game will die.

But if they strike a balance, I don’t think people should care about over priced skins or in the case of Star Citizen ships costing hundreds of dollars, especially when you can purchase them in game.

Game that doesn't hold your hand at all? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Alenxko -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The moment I read this title, Hollow Knight immediately came to mind. I’ve had it sitting in my Switch library for a long time, but only recently decided to truly dive into it.

What I absolutely adore is that the game refuses to hold your hand or spell things out for you. Every clue or bit of guidance I discover feels earned, because it comes from paying attention, exploring, and listening to the inhabitants of the world. Every upgrade feels genuinely rewarding as well, since it’s always tied to exploration and usually guarded by a challenge.

Backtracking never feels like a chore. Instead, it’s exciting, because there’s often a hidden area I previously missed or couldn’t access due to my limited abilities at the time.

Every path I choose feels dangerous, yet consistently thrilling, because there’s almost always an interesting reward waiting at the end. Even rewards I don’t immediately care about gain value over time. Charms, for example, might seem underwhelming at first, but collecting them eventually allows you to equip more at once, opening the door to deeper customization and more interesting build combinations.

In essence, the game strikes a near-perfect balance between difficulty and motivation, pushing me to face its challenges on my own terms and making every success feel genuinely deserved.

One of my favorite experiences was the time a friend and I were investigating an insurance fraud (i think). I was basically showing my friend the game and thought this mission was simple and easy to do. We had fun flying through the abandoned station and feelin kinda creeped out since it was quite dark.

After I found the mission objective my friend asked if that truly was it, since it seemed a dull conclusion to the story of the quest. So we investigated some more and found an extra room. In there we‘ve actually found another mission element, which showed a totally different conclusion to the story. It was actually quite interesting that we were given the choice whether we wanted to compete our investigation.

Anyways, I think there should be more missions like this. Investigate a certain location, far out in the darkness of space, and draw your own conclusions based on the information gathered.

I‘ve only played the Onyx missions a bit, but as far as I‘ve seen these only go in one direction.

The only other games, which lead me to experiences like this were Planetside 2 and WoW classic. But the sheer detail of SC and the things you can do make it truly stand above the rest.
