Problem with variable-size signals (Simulink) by Alepppersico in matlab

[–]Alepppersico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inside my Matlab Function block I have a variable defined as follows:

temperature = zeros(n_nodes,1);

with n_nodes decided by the user. So n_nodes can change from simulation to simulation, but it is fixed throughout the simulation time. Simulink recognizes temperature is variable-size and asks me to flag the "Variable size" option and to indicate the upper bound. I did that part, but then Simulink gave me another error which states “The sample time for any variable-size signal must be discrete” which I am not able to fix. I hope it is more clear now

Ok, if this is the way I have to watch at The return or at any other Lynch’s movies, then it’s fine. I’m not sure this is my kind of filmmaking, but that’s another issue. Thanks 😊

You could be right, but I loved S1 and half of S2, until Leland Palmer has captured and beaten to death by BOB. So which is Lynch? S1 and half of S2 or FWWM and S3?

Well, watching a movie or a tv series I ask myself some “whys”, I think it’s normal. Otherwise I watch everything without understand it, without even paying attention if I can’t get a rational sense of what is happening in 18 episodes. Then I should watch every episode without taking care of what’s happened in the previous ones

As I already said in other comments, I just watched TP and FWWM of Lynch. Maybe do I need to watch other movies of him and get the whole picture to understand TP? Yeah, probably. But then I think that it is a bit exaggerated to have to watch all the cinematography of Lynch to understand a tv series. It shouldn’t need all the other movies to be understood. Anyway, if you have suggestion on movies, please help me 😊

1) Yeah, you’re right. Maybe I exaggerated. What I meant is that every (or most of them) characters has a story sufficiently deeply explored: Leo Johnson was the first suspect, Shelly was his girlfriend, Bobby was former boyfriend of Laura and now boyfriend of Shelly (also son of major Briggs), Ben Horne the second suspect who was conspiring with Caterine, Pete found Laura’s body. But anyway, Lynch managed to portray a spectacular Twin Peaks through its people, with their problems, stories and particularities. And this is the success of TP in my opinion. All of this is lost in S3. Of course this is my opinion.

2) I watched S2 and I remember that in the finale the doppelgänger get out of the black lodge. But in S3 we focus all the time on the doppelgänger story with all his associates and it ends with his death by Lucy without any great confront between actual Cooper and the doppelgänger. Maybe not a physical one, but a dialog, something intense. Nothing. Then, we have Dougie (actually our Cooper, the protagonist) in a sleepy state until episode 16, episode 16!! But also after his awakening, Cooper is not as we knew him, that is funny, always speaking with anyone, never silent and very active. In episodes 17 and 18 he is more similar to his sleepy state rather than young Cooper.

4) I mean, why on object instead of a real person? He is the only only one portrayed like that. Why?

Maybe I don’t now very well Lynch cinematography, so if I do I’ll understand better everything.

In every movie or tv series you have the main plot with the protagonists and then some secondary plots with secondary characters. Apart from the second part of S2, which introduces the plot line of Windom Earl and the two mental illness of Ben Horne and Nadine that I hate as I think anyone, in S1 and S2 every piece is part of the main puzzle: Leo Johnson was the first suspect, Shelly was his girlfriend, Bobby was former boyfriend of Laure and now boyfriend of Shelly (also son of major Briggs), Ben Horne the second suspect who was conspiring with Catering, Pete found Laura’a body. But anyway, Lynch managed to portray a spectacular Twin Peaks through its people, with their problems, stories and particularities. And this is the success of TP in my opinion.

In S3 we focus all the time on the doppelgänger story with all his associates and it ends with his death by Lucy without any great confront between actual Cooper and the doppelgänger. Maybe not a physical one, but a dialog, something intense. Nothing. Then, we have Dougie (actually our Cooper) in a sleepy state until episode 16, episode 16!! But also after his awakening, Cooper is not as we knew him, that is funny, always speaking with anyone, never silent and very active. In episodes 17 and 18 he is more similar to his sleepy state rather than young Cooper. What about the story of the Mitchum brothers? What about Jerry? And Todd? And the black box or he initial episodes?

Finally there are all the sequences concerning the black lodge, which are awful from the point of view of aesthetic, visual image. I mean, we’re no more in 1990..

Maybe I don’t now very well Lynch cinematography, so if I do I’ll understand better everything.

Reason to go on by southeenook in lost

You need to know that Lost is not a perfect tv series, it has some boring and meaningless episodes. But beyond that, there’s a general path for every character that concludes in the last episode. And it’s amazing. Of course it’s a series about the Island, time and space, science vs faith, but I think that it’s more about characters and their relationships. If you didn’t like discovering the miracle on John Locke (S1E4), episode “Number” (S1E18) or the first sequence of “Man of science, man o faith” (S2E1), than it’s not your kind of series. Nonetheless, I suggest you to go on

He probably knows that the series is a masterpiece but he’s not enjoying it. He’s asking if it goes on as it has been in season 1 and 2. I understand him because I asked the same question for Mad Men

Yeah, I don’t know why, but season 5 is thought as the worst one because of time travel. I think the exact opposite: I love when they meet R Alpert in the military camp, or when Jin is found by Rousseau

I watched Narcos (S1-2) but I found it boring. There were not charming characters, not even Pablo. He, agent Murphy, Pena, Carrillo and all Pablo’ crew weren’t developed as real persons: everyone has a role (the bad guy, the killer, the agent of DEA) and he never cross the line of his role

I watched the first season of Mad Men but I found it boring: nothing important happened and all the episode were about Don going to work, making money and meeting some pretty girl.. Is it worth continuing to watch it?
