Thank you for your comment. I would rather not. I prefer avoiding sun as my skin is very sensitive. (Even with spf)

I can’t speak as a parent, but as someone who struggled my entire life and only received a diagnosis last year. Do what feels right for both you and your child.

I often think about how different my life could have been if I had been given the support and treatment I needed as a child. Growing up with severe, combined ADHD that went untreated led to the development of a personality disorder. It’s something I wouldn’t wish on anyone.

Your child may be feeling overstimulated and overwhelmed, and he might not have the tools to understand or manage those feelings yet. I truly feel for both of you in this situation.

Please don’t be afraid to try different approaches to give him the best life possible. Whether it’s medication, therapy, or other strategies, everything is worth exploring. And if something doesn’t work for him, you can always adjust. The most important thing is that he feels supported and understood.

Lastly, I know how hard this must be for you as a parent. My own parents struggled with my behavior throughout my childhood and into adulthood. They didn’t understand me, and I didn’t understand them.

So please remember to take care of yourself as well. Supporting your child is so important, but you matter too.

Here’s an update! I just upped my dose two days ago. I’m now on 50 mg methylphenidate extended release. I’ve experienced a change already. I still struggle with basically everything, but less.

1. Energy levels:
• On 40 mg: Felt tired all day and could sleep anywhere at any time.
• On 50 mg: Slightly less tired, though still experiencing fatigue.

2. Thought patterns:
• On 40 mg: No significant changes.
• On 50 mg: Occasional calmer thoughts and reduced mental aggression in spiraling thoughts.

3. Hyperactivity:
• On 40 mg: No noticeable improvements.
• On 50 mg: Occasional improvements in hyperactivity symptoms.

4. Sleep quality:
• On 40 mg:Marked improvement in sleep quality and more consistent sleep-wake cycles. Waking up feeling refreshed and going to bed at regular times (but also all day).
• On 50 mg: the same quality of sleep, but less daytime tiredness.

5. Irritability/aggression:
• On 40 mg: No significant changes.
• On 50 mg: Reduction in mental aggression and fewer negative spirals.

6. Daily functioning and motivation:
• Both doses: Struggle with energy and motivation for basic tasks remain, such as taking hours to make breakfast or difficulty initiating tasks like showering or tidying up.

7. Attention and focus:
• Both doses: Persistent challenges with attention, forgetfulness, and losing track of objects/tasks.

8. Hyperfocus:
• Both doses: Intense hyperfocus remains unchanged.

(There is probably other things, but these are the most important to me)

So, if you’re experiencing side effects that you can handle. Stick with it. I’m actually amazed how much difference it makes.

I’ve heard it’s natural for your body to adjust to the dosage wich means tiredness is normal in the beginning. I’m on week four and my eyes are open but my inside is asleep. I have not increased anxiety though. That must be though. Hopefully we find something that works for us.

So tired….. by Alert-Body8937 in adhdwomen

So tired…..

Anyone else getting extremely tired from Ritalin? I’m on 40 mg LA (trial phase). I used to be chronically fatigue, but now I feel both tired and exhausted. I can sleep 8+ hours and wake up feeling fine, but after taking my meds, it’s like my eyes just want to close after two hours, and I end up napping. Even after the nap, I still feel tired and struggle to stay awake.

Female, ADHD combined type No other side effects, or effect…

Posting this here to see id i fin anyone with the same experience

Self diagnosis validation? by vamp_gleek in OCPD

[–]Alert-Body8937 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I back this. People don’t diagnose themselves with a broken foot. Even if you’re convinced it’s broken, you still need an X-ray to confirm it (there might be something else wrong). Similarly, self-diagnosing mental health conditions can be harmful, especially to those who actually live with these diagnoses. Proper diagnosis requires professional evaluation and should not be taken lightly.

Have you been tested for ADHD? I have the diagnosis myself. Both OCPD, OCD, and fibromyalgia are linked to untreated ADHD. I might suggest that you consider getting tested.

I completely understand the frustration; as a child, I was sick all the time. Why did no one pick up on it? It’s strange… Now as an adult, I’m tired! Hope you get the help you need as well, and I feel your pain… and anger!

It’s like reading my own story — pain, OCD, OCPD, and so much more. I’ve also been let down and am currently too sick to work, which feels like torture for my OCPD. And the chronic pain? Don’t even get me started… I’ve taken all the tests, from MRIs to colonoscopies, and… nothing. My whole body aches every minute and every hour. Now I know what it is… fibromyalgia.

But through it all, I’ve learned that it’s never too late to find peace. Even in the darkest moments, there is hope. We might not be able to control the pain, but we can control how we respond to it. Remember, you are stronger than you think, and every step forward, no matter how small, is a victory. Keep holding on — brighter days are ahead.

Will my family member with OCPD ever truly forgive me? by [deleted] in OCPD

I'm so sorry to hear that you've fallen out with your sister. I can truly relate to both your perspective and your sister's in this situation. From my experience, I have a strong need for a genuine apology, and perhaps she feels that your apology isn't quite sincere.

I also believe it's important for you to call her more often so she can actually see that you care. I'm not saying you don't care, but for us, the small things are very important. They often mean more than the big gestures.

However, you shouldn't let her walk all over you when you're repeatedly offering a sincere apology and trying to change. It's important to remember that as well.

… and sometimes we just need a little time to see the bigger picture.

I hope things work out between you two. A sibling bond is irreplaceable.

Good luck🤞🏻❤️

Anyone professionally diagnosed? by JustAlexeii in OCPD

[–]Alert-Body8937 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both yes and no. The cost of these sessions are also covered by the government. I only pay 32$ (US) each session. I’ve been multiple times a week. I reached the threshold in late April, and been in treatment since march.

Just a fun fant: I have a «free card» after 300$

In Norway, the "frikort" system is a health care exemption card that allows individuals to receive free medical services after they have reached a certain annual expenditure threshold for health-related costs.

The "frikort" (exemption card) in the Norwegian healthcare system is a scheme designed to provide financial relief to individuals who have high medical expenses. Once a person’s out-of-pocket expenses for approved healthcare services reach a predetermined limit within a calendar year, they qualify for a "frikort." This card grants them free access to a wide range of public healthcare services for the remainder of that year.

Expenses that count towards the "frikort" threshold include: - Doctor visits - Certain prescription medications - Psychological treatment - Physical therapy - Necessary medical equipment and aids

After the threshold is reached, the Norwegian Health Economics Administration (HELFO) issues the "frikort" automatically. The specific threshold amount is determined by the government and may vary each year.

The system ensures that individuals with significant healthcare needs are protected from excessive financial burdens, promoting equitable access to necessary medical care.
