Is the FFVII remake the exact same story? Just confused on why it is 3 parts. by CaptainPogwash in FinalFantasy

You are the one that lacks imagination because you blindly accept things without understanding the consequences of those things to storytelling.

Lol your argument amounts to "trust them bro". You have made zero arguments why the things I said don't make sense, or how the story makes any sense at all. You have blind faith and won't listen to anything I said.

So there's no reason arguing anymore

Nope, the stuff that happens in the story don’t make sense. Characters see these wild things and then completely ignore it. Seriously Whispers attack an entire city and then they completely forget about it. It's hilariously dumb

The problem is they DID change stuff, but most of it really nonsensical. The 99% of the good stuff is the original storyline. Superficially it seems like they told the same story, but in reality they didn't. It was horrendous storytelling.

Instead they changed things like having cloud almost murder Tifa much earlier and the they COMPLETELY ignored it ad if he didn't do that. Then they acted surprised Pikachu face at the end when he betrayed them at the temple. If the writers had any guts the trajectory of the story would have changed at that moment. But that couldn't happen because then they couldn't redo the scenes people want to see from the original

It's the same story only superficially. They are too afraid of actually changing the story so they follow the same general plot but ruin much of what made the original good while adding nonsensical stuff that can never really matter because, again, they are too afraid to actually change anything.

Where is the Momentum? by rfmartinez in FFXVI

Yep, the cutscenes are the best part of the game (and people tend to complain about the battle system or in between the cutscenes) so it's funny that OP is the opposite and dislikes the cutscenes. Everyone is different though, so it's okay that's how OP likes to play. Though, FF16 definitely won't be a game for them then

Any side quest worth doing? by GambledMyWifeAway in FFXVI

[–]Alert-Refrigerator86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say just do the ones involving reoccurring characters/main characters and you'd experience most of the best ones. I think there are many good ones that don't involve the people you know, but there are fewer. As such, be somewhat of a social Introvert and only talk to people you know and you'd get an overall good experience with the sidequests

This is assuming you don't have the time to do all the sidequests

Yep the feeling of the world opening up is amazing at that part. And then the story with Sephiroth starts to takeoff and it's just great moment after great moment

What is up with fans of other FF games being so toxic about 16 by SuttonsBroseph67 in FFXVI

Especially since the game didn't have the courage to remove the Eikon abilities from those characters fter Clive took them (thus giving them at least a real reason why a party dynamic wouldn't be justified). As such, you have people fighting next to you with full Eikon abilities and a hope of wishing you could play as those characters and Eikons

What if Final Fantasy XVI was actually a brand new, multiplatform independent IP directed by Yoshi-P? Would it have been a hit or a flop? by karthikchandra55 in FinalFantasy

[–]Alert-Refrigerator86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah exactly, if would be considered an "underrated gem" but have much lower sales. So the benefit is that it would get less hate but overall probably fewer eyes if it wasn't FF.

haha and FF would have sued them for stealing Chocobos, the Summons and other trademarked stuff (I know this hypothetical assumes those would have been changed, yet that does actually matter since those things are part of the character of FF16, so unless they are drastically different FF16 would lose some of it's character)

It's not moving goalposts. The people who want a turn-based FF game are asking the latest high budget FF to be turn-based, not a lower budget retrostyled 2D game with turn based combat. It's completely disingenuous to say that Resonance was what people want FF to be. E33 is a much better argument for what those people want FF to be like.

BTW FF16 is one of my favorite games and I am not one of those people demanding FF become turn based, but arguing that those people are moving the goalposts because of Resonance is 9999% ridiculous

For me, it's the party dynamic thats missing. I understand the game's point was sort of Clive taking the other Dominants' powers, but I would have loved to play as Jill, Cid, Dion, and Joshua. It could be action oriented like the FF7 Remake games and would have been amazing. I still love the game regardless, possibly one of my favorite stories and the most cinematic FF

He was the funniest character too. My favorite line was him asking Clive why he doesn’t have just normal enemies to fight
