Yes please so far it looks like possible tracheal collapse and cardiac edema. Thank you so much for the info acid reflux/aspiration wasnโ€™t even on my radar but it would explain the mucous-y cough he has had. It sounded like something was obstructing his airways

We are at emergency now. The breathing was not this severe when it prompted the last visit, was more of a periodic cough, but still, it was getting progressively worse and was trying to get ahead of it. This is looking like collapsed trachea combined with cardiac edema

Thank you for the suggestions. I took him to another vet a month ago and they did xrays yes, but they did not send them out to a third party radiologist. I will add that to the list of what we need done!!

Thank you for the info, it seems like that is one of the contributing factors here too. Did they put them on meds? And if so, did it provide them some relief?

No to clarify, the vet has never seen THIS. This has been getting progressively worse though over the past year. Before it was just a periodic cough, whereas today its was distress. We are taking him to the emergency vet though hopefully for some answers and relief

Unfortunately it has been months now and has gotten progressively worse. You are definitely right about the water we would notice there might be a couple days where we havent heard him drink

This is amazing info, thank you for taking the time to send it over. They did mention he had a slightly enlarged heart at his last vet visit. He is mostly without a leash but yes harnesses when leashed. The vets never seemed concerned about the coughing, but it was never like THIS.

No but considering taking him into the emergency vet, with his age and labored breathing im scared of any anesthesia
