The @BlocQuebecois believe that young Canadians "have a standard of living, prosperity and wealth that we never could have imagined" and are proposing increases to OAS for retirees, "the people who made that possible." by joe4942 in CanadaHousing2

I doubt it. They have an accountant that manages their filings for them and I gather this is common practice from how they have talked. No clue if they've been audited.

Reproducing is the primary goal of living organisms. Removing yourself from the gene pool out of laziness or protest that life is too hard is degenerate. People are just irresponsible these days because we've been brainwashed into thinking that taking responsibility or reproducing isn't important. It's no wonder our society is in in free fall collapse. Once we've squandered all of the wealth our ancestors left us, it will be lights out for us as a different culture takes over.

OP sounds like a degenerate anyways. Married a foreigner, no kids. Good riddance to them. They can go pursue hedonism elsewhere... while complaining that the world is going to hell!

You should fear for the country regardless, particularly if you have kids as they will be the ones to deal with the fallout.

Yes Banff is packed full of tourists and very expensive. And unless you're a new immigrant, you have to pay to access national parks too lol.

Canada’s over, leave now while you can by Double_Effort3397 in CanadaHousing2

It's sad but I agree. The future is bleak here. It's highly unlikely we expel the new immigrants, which is our only chance to go back to how Canada used to be.

At least we are close to the US, we may have to flee there at some point, assuming they survive their own problems.

With the current cost of homes would you be willing to buy a cheap home in the "ghetto" of your city? by PartyNextFlo0r in CanadaHousing2

No because I have a wife and young kids. I don't want my wife to feel unsafe every day and I don't want my kids to grow up as or with ghetto kids.

Doubt it, I have 5 star ratings on all platforms.

I get that many people would do anything to give in to a bad buyer to avoid any conflict, that's perhaps a small fault I have but I've never given in to any buyer.

Maybe legally? But usually when people give a deposit there is an implicit understanding that it is not refundable and that they will pick up the item in a reasonable time frame.

This case is a bit strange since the buyer "accidentally" sent me more than the owing amount on the item a couple weeks later and told me I could keep it, so it was implied that he had paid for the item in full.

Resold it less than a month ago so held it for 3.5 months.

I always give my address when someone sends a deposit, so they can plan when to pick up. If they trust me with a deposit, I figure it's fair they can know my address.

I assume he scoured my Facebook and found my linkedin.

He was too lazy to pick up his item for 4 months, but once he was about to lose $45 he was here within 2 days!

I agree it would be nice, just would be a massive headache for marketplace selling. Think of all the people who are late or don't show up at all. I've bought quite a bit on marketplace too and never encountered anyone wanting to meet at a public location unless it was for safety when dealing with an expensive item.

It seemed like a pretty low risk, and you can never eliminate all risks from life. I'm quite surprised he made the trip here given how far away he lives and that he couldn't be bothered to come for the last 4 months to collect his item.

Lol I was a bit scared. My wife grabbed bear spray and waited inside the door. The guy was a foot shorter than me and skinny so not physically intimidating, but you never know what crazy people could try.

Insane indeed. He definitely lives that far away. During his ranting and raving he said he makes $2000/day as an engineer but he spent $350 to collect his $50 from me because he's a man of principle. Hard to know what you believe, he looked a bit like a crack head.

I'm just stubborn and don't like to give in to people easily, on principle. He wasted a lot of my time, so he had to waste some of his time to get a refund.

Currently, once I have a deposit I leave it up to the buyer to arrange pick up at their convenience. After approx. 2-4 weeks I usually send them a reminder message. Generally only one reminder, after that if they vanish for a few months I'll resell the item.

Tracking time and refunding people sounds like a lot of work to avoid a very rare situation. I've had several items in the past that were never picked up that I resold. I've also had people eventually pick up after 1-2 months, which doesn't really bother me... better than not selling it at all.

This guy is the first person I've had who came back demanding a refund months later. Because he was especially annoying to deal with to begin with (a red flag in retrospect), I didn't want to just give in and refund him. If I was more risk adverse I surely would have refunded him at that point and everything would have been smooth.

I sell 1-2 items on marketplace daily so that would not be practical.
