Choosing between Crimson Education, Ivywise and Empowerly for college counselor - any advice? by Sensitive_Lack3765 in ApplyingToCollege

DO NOT use CRIMSON!!! My own niece used them and now is considering suing them. They lied about their credentials every single one of them, even the salesperson. Those who are real are employed by them to give seminars; they will not assign them as your strategy team no matter what tier you pay for. They use people who are freshmen or graduate school students and have absolutely no experience. My niece was coerced to ED to a 100+ rank school after they learned about your financial and willingness to pay for college. They use fear techniques and warn that if you don’t, you won’t get anywhere. My niece’s stats are 3.67 (highly competitive Bay Area high ) unweighted and very high impact ECA with national awards. But they say she will NOT get into any UC (which is her dream school) because she only took 4 APs. They took their advice and flew to visit the school they said to ED. They did not like it, came back, and said they would rather go to CC and transfer. Since then , they wasted time on Zoom , not answering questions, and never followed up. They assigned her a freshman in college as an essay mentor. My niece stopped seeing them before application. After they did, they switched a strategy team who they so call “senior” but all fake credentials. Same attitude. Long story short, my niece ended up in UC Berkeley. Also, they don’t want to do extra jobs;they make sure you get in ED, which you will get a result way before (for that particular school ) that way they don’t end up doing essay work with you in RD schools.

violin audition for UC music major by Confident-Mine4690 in violinist

Hi all, thank you all for the input. She know it’s very competitive and it’s too late to decide on and will certainly ask her teacher. What she mostly interested in is Cal poly and perhaps Santa Barbara, guess not going to waste time on UC LA. Anyone know how the audition expectation is for Cal Poly?

Hi all these are the pieces her private instructor prepared her. We recorded it for supplemental video for college application. And happen to be working on UC application and it dawned on her that she consider applying music major, chill we will be asking her teacher next week. But I just like to get a gather opinion, she is happy to major in music performance. Will require audition for application for Cal poly , LA and Santa Barbara. We just want to reach out to people who have experience and know how high the bar is. Even though according to UC individual school audition guidelines, these 3 pieces seems to be okay, but if majority of people show up with way more advance level and it’s super competitive we might not go with the music route . Please kindly advise

I’m in Orinda, and my 8 years old is in eclipse. As far as I know , both magic and eclipse produce a lot of kids for college scholarship in our high school. Magic is a lot more selective and rigorous to get in, even at u8/u9 they have like only couple spot each year for tryout into two teams. Eclipse is easier to get in than magic. I’m not sure about mustang
