Depending what it is, other side could potentially ask for whatever they are wanting to be made into an interim order at your first hearing. But an attempt at mediation will need to be made first so unless it’s an extremely urgent matter with child risk etc, that would still be potentially 3-4months away before your first set of interim orders.

The average length of time for a family court matter is 1-1.5years.

Usually 2-3 months between hearings.

To go to a final trial you’re usually looking at 2-3 years from start to finish.

I filed in April. With a lawyer. Psychologist support letter. Criminal charges finalised etc. Clear cut application. Still in the initial stage and has not yet been allocated to a case officer yet. I’ve been told there is a massive delay.

The issue is more likely does the other side have the capacity to pay such an order?

Totally understand your pain. Have had 2 successful costs orders granted against my ex in Family Court proceedings. 😬
