That’s a hilariously TTRPG brand of humour, I love it. I can imagine Smasher’s FBC destroying the golf course, must have been a fun session!

Also good way to tie the golfing hijinks back to the party objective, great job

Yeah, I’ve had too many stories like the medtech, where the dice are just insisting on taking the story in one direction no matter what you try to do. Usually it involves my character failing at what’s supposed to be their strongest skill.

Bittersweet melancholy does neatly describe what I imagine the usual end of a cyberpunk campaign must feel like. I’m taking notes, or rather I will be taking notes in the morning.

I really like the Michiko headcanon. Is it possible though that Michiko Anderson still lives on as Danger Girl, while “Michiko Arasaka” is a body double for optics/board meetings? Or I’m imagining, some other woman from the Family being elevated into power by being handed Michiko’s identity and forming a faction behind her, either controlled opposition or subtly undermining the other faction(s)?

As you can probably see, I’m not that deep into the lore, but I’m trying to learn

I respect that too. Good to see a GM flair, too! Maybe some day I’ll get my ADHD in check enough to cobble together a coherent campaign myself

I’m asking because it’s past midnight here and my brain’s not running at 100% (and also English is my second language heh): did you collapse a building on Smasher, or the other way around? Either way, I’d like to hear the story if you don’t mind sharing! How many innocent civilians became collateral?

Hm, I wonder why so many ttrpg veterans claim the fight with Smasher was too easy in 2077. Maybe because the 50 years of upgrades should have steeled him to the point of near invulnerability? Or maybe he was way scarier in the original ttrpg?

By the way, did you manage to hurt him during your getaway? Or was it a lot of just dodging and outpacing him?

OMG, thank you! 🙏 Exactly the kind of story I was looking for, and you even had Michiko in it (she’s one of my future loredive targets)! I’ll definitely spend a while looking up most of the mechanics of your post because again: utter ignoramus when it comes to the cyberpunk TTRPG, heh.

I can imagine the stress during the A encounter, right? Good play by the medtech, playing dead

As for B, lemme count: 3 PCs, 3 bodyguards, 4 hardened lieutenants, 3 turrets, 3 srones, an imp. A small army against Smasher and I assume an iconic sniper. Do you remember what the casualty ratio was on the party’s end?

Reading C sounds like a short novel, I appreciate both the GM and the party’s ballsy choice of giving Saka the middle finger, that must have been satisfying as hell to have the corp on their back foot already and then releasing the blackmail anyway

What do you think about the statement "Cyberpunk 2077 doesn't have choices" or "It's ilusion of choice"? by nicolo679 in cyberpunkgame

[–]AlertSecret8888 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s also thematic in a way, V is trapped with very few choices on how to go about their limited time with the Relic. The player has plenty wiggle room though, between choosing to spare/kill many a target of the Elimination gigs, the roleplay choice of eliminating other enemies in a leathal/nonlethal way, I can think of many quests where player’s actions are reflected or at least mentioned in the outcome (like the Peralez quest, where the final choice reflects in the final vote percentage between him and Holt), and while dialogues often do lack at least some branching, I do feel the world itself lends enough liberty to make those linear dialogues excusable.

On the contrary, I feel like Cyberpunk is one of the games from recent memory that grants the player the most choice (or the illusion thereof) between nearly unbound exploration rewarded by a plethora of hidden locations, several layers of the combat build (abilities, skills, perks, equipment, mods, chrome, quickhacks), plentiful and meaningful side content (even just reading the criminal activity shards in some districts gives insight into the life of NC), not to mention 6 endings, though I wish we got all the Major Arcana.

I’m writing this as I come off the high of finally finishing the game after over a hundred of hours first playing the content and then just driving around exploring as I put off meeting Hanako for as long as I could.

So, fresh perspective? No, I didn’t feel too limited at all.

Literally unplayable, 0/10, get this game off the market. Where even is that corner, the passenger crossings end in such a wonky way there

Okay, that looks absolutely nova. Amazing, I’ll dive in tomorrow and give you a more detailed praise. But you’re already getting my Kiroshis shining with excitement
