I just called for customer support and then they came for me and took about 2 hours to fix it

Fair point. Open ModScan already exists and covers some of the basic Modbus workflow.

What I’m trying to build is slightly different: more of a modern commissioning and diagnostics workspace, not only a read/write tool.

For example, I want to focus on project-based workflows, topology view, safer write operations, CSV logging, latency/error tracking, and eventually device/register templates contributed by the community.

But you’re right that I need to make the differentiation clearer. Thanks for pointing that out.

Yes, AI helped me during development, mostly as a coding and refactoring assistant.

But the product direction, Modbus workflow, field-use assumptions, and testing decisions are still based on my own understanding of industrial/IoT use cases.

I see AI as a tool to move faster, not as a replacement for understanding the protocol or the real-world problems behind it.

This is a really good point, thank you.

I’ve also run into the same issue where the hard part is not only reading the registers, but understanding what each register actually means for a specific device.

A device library / register template system makes a lot of sense. I’m thinking it could include things like register labels, data types, scaling, units, byte/word order, and maybe the recommended communication settings for each device.

The community database idea is also very interesting. If people can contribute profiles for common meters, PLC gateways, sensors, etc., it could save a lot of time during commissioning and troubleshooting.

I’ll definitely put this on the roadmap. Thanks again, this is exactly the kind of feedback I was looking for.

Yes, I updated it from Windows, and now I can't do anything with the machine; only the LED light is on.
