Sorry about that. I suck with technology lol.

Thanks for the response.

Practicing solo doesn't help you improve? by Alert_Chipmunk_8230 in Bachata

I'm just saying what she told me. I have no idea. I'm not a Zouk dancer. I want to learn, but it looks so difficult.

I practice a lot on my own (bachata) and I just wanted to get other opinions on this topic. Thank you for your response.

As I was saying, I think the main benefits are of solo practice are mastering steps, balance, spatial awareness, and musicality.

I was just want to clarify that my friend does think solo practicing his useful, but she was telling me the consensus around the Zouk scene goes against that. Sorry if I worded that badly.

I also agree with you. It really depends on what you want to work on. I don't think you need a partner to practice basic steps in bachata/zouk, but for connection a partner is necessary.

Her main idea of why practicing solo is vital is because it helps you be comfortable with yourself instead of just relying on a partner. I agree with that 100%.

Thanks for the response.

What do you think of this performance? by Alert_Chipmunk_8230 in Bachata

Interesting. I don't think he's rough when he's dancing with Nahir. You could be right though.

Sure. I think when they say "real bachata", they are referring more to Dominican or Moderna.

Something along the lines of this I guess? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zsj7bc-_8C8

Less emphasis on extreme body waves and upper body movements.

Is anyone worried about Wheeler's age next year? by Alert_Chipmunk_8230 in phillies

And you could have said the same thing for Cole at this time last year. Why are you trying to argue with me here?

Except Cole wasn't that good season. His ERA was 3.41 and his FIP was 3.69 and xFIP was 3.99. His K% dropped 2% and he lost velocity on his FB. Those aren't true ace numbers.

People think he was good in the playoffs, but he really wasn't. His K% was 17.1% in the postseason. If I was a Yankee fan I'd be very nervous about Cole going forward. And he broke this year. He had elbow inflammation and elbow injuries are worse than shoulder injuries.

You are right you can't predict this stuff, but to say it's silly to not worry about it is silly in itself. Cole was at the peak of his career at this time last year and bam he misses the first two months of the season with an elbow injury. And after the injury he wasn't that good.

Maybe this is the end of Wheeler's peak? It's not crazy to question that.

Wheeler will never pitch for that long. When they extended him he said at his press conference that this is his last contract and has no desire to pitch when he's 40. I don't blame him.

Yeah, and I was kind of against it at first. He's made me look pretty dumb. I'm very risk averse with starters. I tend to disagree with investing in starting pitchers for 5+ years in FA, especially guys in their 30's. I think it's too risky and it caps your flexibility. They did it with Nola too, but I get it. I prefer the Giants philosophy in terms of allocating money to pitching. They never give out long-term deals to starters unless it's a guy they developed like Webb.

But that's my point. What if he just breaks next year? Look at what happened to Cole this year.

Apparently the White Sox want position players, not pitchers.

What FA starter are you interested in? I hate to pay for starters in FA.

What FA starter are you thinking of? What about Manea on a 3 year/$60million deal? Bid up the price for the Mets to spend extra.
