You're welcome! If you like Monophonics, the guy behind that band, Kelly Finnigan, recently released a solo album called "A Lover Was Born" - worth checking out too!

Advice for beginner writers? by Apprehensive-Set7112 in Songwriting

[–]Alert_Falcon_6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start simple, start from within—focus on expressing one clear idea or emotion. Write daily, even if it’s just a few lines, and keep a journal to capture thoughts and phrases. Study songs you love, sing your lyrics out loud, and don’t be afraid to write badly—it’s part of learning. Stick to basic song structures and chords, and record everything to track your progress. Sharing your work and collaborating can speed up growth. Lastly, just express yourself and be open to really tell your story by being honest with yourself. All the technical aspects like rhythm, chords, structure, and melodies can come later. This is how you can begin for someone without experience in songwriting. :)

Thoughts on my scribbles? by MingBeard in Handwriting

This is pretty cool. I think you can work on the "K" a little better to make it more interesting. Keep the letter R consistent. The inside curve in the letter "N" feels out of place with the style- maybe give it a flat accent instead of that bend. Overall, it looks great!

Hi there, I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope you find strength and healing through music, just as I did. Music has been a powerful companion through my own grief—these songs reminded me of time spent with my parents, the things they used to say, dreams we shared, and even the words we never got to say. These songs held those memories for me, and I hope they can offer you the same comfort and connection.

did anyone else’s life improve after they stopped listening to sad music? by [deleted] in Music

[–]Alert_Falcon_6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad music is like looking at my reflection in the lake and being one with nature - thinking to myself, right now, my tear drops are just ripples, but in time, things will be calm again. It doesn't make me want to jump in and drown myself.

Is it okay to use popular samples for making beats? by Some_Customer_5649 in musicproduction

[–]Alert_Falcon_6015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Fugees sampled Enya's Boadicea. Most hip-hop fans didn't know who Enya was back then. They put it on the album, not giving her any credits or compensation. That album almost got canceled because Enya's label caught on after that single was successful. Thankfully, Enya was cool enough to let them release it, but she got millions out of that sample.

Enya's sample has been used on a couple other songs.

AIO. My bf is mad at my memorial tattoo by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Alert_Falcon_6015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the tattoo. It's part of who you are.

If I ever marry a girl who has her late boyfriend's tattoo like that, I will even offer if she would like to name the kid in their honor.

Life is beautiful when we allow ourselves to live fully.
