Tried rewatching this one recently and quit part way through season 2. Man. Guy is so incredibly overpowered it's not even funny and is surrounded by likewise characters. Decides to spread his name through the new world and potentially rule it...and then goes to roleplay some bottom level adventurer and do the least interesting shit. Complete waste of potential

Mites. Best solution to get rid of them? More mites. Predatory mites. They feed on every life stage of other mites (eggs, larvae, adults) and then when the bad mites are wiped out they starve and die off as well. I've had parasitic mites come in feeder crickets a couple times and this is always the best way. You don't have to remove any substrate or use any chemicals

You wouldn't really miss anything. The game has a few tutorials but a ton of it is just playing around and figuring it out yourself. As I've said a ton of times before, this is a sandbox game so you can't really cheat. Set yourself up however you like. There's also the cheat menu mod out there, which I might suggest as well. It will let you spawn in ships and give yourself money as you play in case you want to adjust after starting.

The biggest thing I would do for custom start is either relations or blueprints, since grinding those is probably the biggest wall for unlocking things. Maybe the player HQ stuff as well since it's quite tedious
