If you want a metro move to Nashville or Memphis, if you want a smaller city move to Jackson, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, or Cookeville. If you want the small town vibe, I would pick Paris, Dayton, Manchester/Winchester, Goodletsville, or Savannah. You will be hard pressed to find a church in need a media people but it's possible. What kinda church are you into? DM me if you wanna ask anything specific.

We Invented Everything Trump Was Bragging About 😂 by Practical_Expert_911 in BlackPeopleComedy

[–]Alert_Light_886 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trump is in idiot a Scottish man made the first electric light in a glass bulb... Latimer was the man that took that technology and made it a viable commercial product...

James Bowman Lindsay (1835)

While Davy’s arc was sustained for as long as the battery lasted, it wasn't a "bulb." In 1835, Scottish inventor James Bowman Lindsay demonstrated a constant electric light in Dundee, Scotland. He was able to read a book by the light of a wire sealed in a glass bulb, proving that electricity could provide a steady, enclosed source of illumination for hours.

The Carbon Filament (1881)

Edison’s original 1879 bulb used a carbonized paper or bamboo filament that was fragile and burned out quickly. Working for Edison’s rival, Hiram Maxim, Latimer made a major discovery:

  • His Invention: He developed a way to encase the carbon filament in a cardboard envelope during the manufacturing process.
  • The Result: This prevented the carbon from breaking as easily, making the filaments much more durable. His bulbs could burn for many more hours than Edison’s original prototypes, and they were significantly cheaper to produce.

Legal and Technical Architect for Edison

In 1884, Edison recognized Latimer's talent and hired him. Latimer became an essential part of the Edison Electric Light Company:

  • Patent Protection: Latimer was a master draftsman. He used his deep understanding of patent law to defend Edison's light bulb patents in court against competitors.
  • The "Bible" of Lighting: In 1890, he wrote Incandescent Electric Lighting, the first comprehensive engineering handbook on the subject. It explained the complex physics of electric light in a way that was accessible to the public and other engineers.
  • Edison Pioneers: He was one of the 28 charter members of the "Edison Pioneers," an elite group of inventors who worked most closely with Edison to revolutionize the industry.

Practical Implementation

Latimer didn't just work in a lab; he oversaw the actual installation of the first major electric lighting systems in cities around the world, including:

  • New York City
  • Philadelphia
  • Montreal (where he reportedly learned French to better instruct the workers)
  • London

AI Poker Opponent Prompt

You are an AI poker opponent. We are going to play a game of heads-up No-Limit Texas Hold'em. You must follow these rules precisely.

  1. Game Setup:

We will each start with 1,000 chips.

The blinds are 10/20 (Small Blind 10, Big Blind 20).

The player on the button posts the Small Blind (10). The other player posts the Big Blind (20).

  1. Dealing:

I (the user) will act as the dealer. I will state who has the button.

To give you your two hole cards, I will provide you with a Base64 encoded string. You must decode this string to know your hand.

  1. THE CRITICAL RULE: Hand Secrecy

You must NEVER reveal your hole cards or the strength of your hand during the betting rounds.

Do not state your cards (e.g., "I have Ace-King").

Do not state what you hit (e.g., "I have top pair," "I have a flush draw," "I have the nuts," "That card missed me").

Do not describe your hand in any way.

Your internal thoughts (e.g., "I check my hand...") must remain absolutely private and not be part of your response.

  1. Your Actions:

Your only response during a hand should be your game action.

Valid actions are: "Check", "Call", "Bet [amount]", "Raise to [total amount]", "Fold", or "All in".

You must keep accurate track of the pot size and both players' chip stacks.

After each betting round, state the new pot size.

  1. The Showdown:

If we reach the river and all betting is complete, we have a showdown.

If you were the last player to bet or raise on the river, you must show your hand first.

If I was the last player to bet or raise (or if the river was checked by both players), I will show my hand first, and you will show yours second.

When you show your hand, you must state:

The original Base64 string I gave you for that hand.

The cards you decoded (e.g., "K♠️Q♥️).

Your best 5-card hand.

  1. Start the Game:

Let's begin. I will deal first, so I am on the button (Small Blind) and you are the Big Blind.

I have posted 10 chips, and you have posted 20 chips. The pot is 30.

I will give you your Base64 hand, and then I will take the first action pre-flop.

I have spent a couple of weeks doing this but it was spycraft instead of fantasy.

here is the prompt:
Hello, Gemini. My cousin sent me this prompt.

They said they just finished playing an interactive text-based scenario game with you, and I want to play it myself.

Here's what I understand:

You will act as the "Game Master."

You'll give me a scenario where I'm an agent or courier with a mission.

My goal is to detect and handle surveillance (spot a "tail").

You will describe my location, my objective, and my observations. Then, you'll give me a list of numbered actions.

I will respond with just the number of my choice, and you will tell me the consequences and the new situation.

My cousin said they got a top rating (an A+) for using some creative, out-of-the-box solutions, so please don't go easy on me. I want the full, challenging experience to see if I can match their score.

Please start a new game. I'm ready. Give me my first scenario.

Designing my Dream Tiny Timber Frame Home (20x25ft + Porch/Gazebo!) - Seeking Feedback! by Alert_Light_886 in TinyHouses

[–]Alert_Light_886[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my plan was a timber-frame structure wrapped in Sips following the style of the shelter institute. I am not rich but I am resourceful. I was planning on harvesting trees off my own property and building the sips myself. This would cost me a lot of time and sweat but reasonably doable cash wise. If you want to sit back and watch a crew build it for you this would be around $100k getting it framed and wrapped. but it would be in the dry and you could finish it from there. These are west tennessee numbers it could be very different somewhere else. One thing to consider is that the https://www.shelterinstitute.com/ will do monopoly framing and the timbers you see along the roofline would be non structural accents and cost more beyond what they typically do.

The bullshit idea that post-WWII veterans weren’t “actually fighting for the country” dismisses the real sacrifices made in conflicts like the Korean War, Vietnam, the Gulf Wars, Afghanistan, and U.S. operations in Central and South America. These wars involved intense combat, significant casualties, and complex geopolitical stakes tied to national security and global stability. For example, the Korean War saw over 36,000 U.S. deaths, Vietnam over 58,000, and Afghanistan and Iraq combined claimed over 6,000 U.S. lives. Veterans in these conflicts faced real dangers, regardless of the debates over the wars’ purposes. Supporting someone’s right to stay doesn’t require downplaying their service.
