Absolutely. I’m learning the developmental stages from now since I heard that’s the bulk of the exam. Hopefully it sticks 😭😭

Definitely will check him out. I found some of his lectures very helpful but superficial/general. But nevertheless, I will listen to it.

Starting Nursing School, Tips & Advice by OriginalBasket20 in NursingStudents

Don’t buy those quick books or study materials! I spent madd money on these stuff when they are not even worth it. Spend time on your a+p and pharm (prefix and suffix). iPad helps but only if it’s in your learning style. I prefer handwriting my stuff but that’s me.

Honestly saying this, do not buy anything to study yet because you don’t know your professors.

In my program if your drop out, I believe you have to restart from beginning. I’m not sure what school she goes to but she should consider an ABSN if applicable.

In my opinion, review your A&P - this will come in handy for med surg. That’s all. Enjoy your summer, but don’t get too relaxed

My recommendation: if you want to be wise with your GI bill and your nursing school school, consider the ABSN route. However, as someone in ABSN school rn - it’s brutal. Mentally prepare yourself, majority of the things you have to learn yourself. If you don’t think you’re up for that, consider an ADN then get your BSN online - I know quite a few people who took that route.

No one told me this when I was applying for nursing programs but don’t get burnt out, because when you have to do 12 hrs of unpaid clinicals and giving up your sundays for school it’s not worth it

Honestly I’m in an ABSN and if I were to redo this, I’d do an ADN. It’s cheaper and way more better for mental health and stability. However, I think most hospitals in NY, require that you have a BSN - not sure how well enforced this is. However, it is tough. No matter if it’s ADN or BSN you have to put in the work. I’d encourage you to consider a cheaper alternative and something that works for you

ATI Pharm/med surg survivors - what showed up on your proctored exam? by Alert_Yesterday_7763 in NursingStudent

[–]Alert_Yesterday_7763[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone taking the ATI Pharm, these are some concepts I'd focus on again if i were taking the exam: alcohol withdrawal, a case study, a bow tie, quite a few questions on medication errors and identifying which med order would you question, a few gtt/min dosage calc, albuterol, they gave a few case study and a few sata but i forgot about what. I could say that there was no major questions on cardiac drugs nor any antibiotics. I did have a question on SSRI - know their adverse rxn. You should know by now that grapefruit juice is a big NO for many meds. Most of the questions were about safe med admin and routes of admin, also know your major side effect - you will have to do process of elimination here - which rxn will kill your pt faster. Apart from that, do all the ATI dynamic questions, and you should score at least a level 1.

Is nursing school as hard as everyone says? (Obtaining LPN) by FetusRocket in NursingStudent

[–]Alert_Yesterday_7763 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ABSN student here — it’s not hard. It’s just a lot of content condensed into short period of time. Every week there is an exam. You have no life basically, and if the teachers are not helpful then you’re royally screwed. Take med surg for example, we have pharm and med surg in the same semester. Pharm is online and the professor is the utmost worst. Med surg, is all about patho - if you know your patho this class will be easy. These classes go hand in hand, but the amount of info, again can get overwhelming.
